Flowers: produces many short-lived, pretty flowers during the first half of month 5, every turn
Stem: hardwood tree
Berries: in the fall, it has a number of reddish berries
Height: 3-10 meters
Locations: warm, shaded areas and cannot tolerate much freezing
Healer use: The bark of this tree is mildly diaphoretic. It has been allowed to dry for at least a turn, it is also a good stomach tonic that has the side effect of delaying menstruation. It also makes an antiseptic poultice for ulcerated skin.
Cooking use: berries are used in cooking.
Other uses: The hard, dense wood of this tree makes it a woodworker's joy, marred only by the fact that it does not grow well in most of Pern's settled areas, and so is fairly rare.
