Mint
Leaves: smallish, fragrant leaves
Flowers: blooms in months 7-8, producing short spikes of tiny purple or pink flowers
Height: rarely grows over 60cm
Healer use: The leaves, when heated in warm milk, sooth stomach pains, as does an infusion of the leaves. The oil is used in many cough medicines and chest plasters, to clear the lungs and sinuses. The oil is also a mild relaxant, and the leaves can be used as a poultice to reduce muscle aches and dry skin, as well as easing the itching of insect bites. It is also a mild febrifuge (milder than willow salic) and a very mild analgesic. It should be avoided by pregnant women.
Cooking use: Mint is a tasty addition to many dishes.
