Redwort
Flowers: flat-topped purple or red flowers
Stems: small and shrub-like, it has reddish veined stems and grows close to the ground
Healer use: Redwort is used as an antiseptic was to prevent infection and to defend against the effects of numbweed. All tools should be rinsed with redwort both before and after use, as well as being washed in hot water or boiled. A healer should wash his or her hands in redwort before touching a wound, and the wound itself should be rinsed with water, bathed in redwort, then rinsed again, as its protective effects are unneeded when numbweed needs to be applied to an open wound. Healers should apply redwort to their hands before working with numbweed on any wound, especially before performing work such as stitches, to avoid losing feeling in their hands. Frequent reapplication is needed for work that takes very long. Redwort stains the skin a light reddish color, resembling a sunburn.
