Flowers: clusters of cream colored flowers in the spring
Berries: dense clusters of red berries
Locations: Higher ground; like all trees in the ash family, it can tolerate cold climates
Healer use: Berries can be made into a sore throat gargle. Bark and leaves are used in a gargle for thrush.
Cooking use: Berries can be made into jelly or ground into flour. They can also be fermented into wine. Seeds should be removed from berries before use.
