Leaves: lacy evergreen leaves
Flowers: bright yellow or yellow-gree with wavy petals that are in loose clusters
Stems: woody stems with bluish shoots
Harvest: Harvest the aerial portions shortly before plant opens to full bloom. Dry in shade. All parts of the plant above the ground are used.
Dangers: Avoid in pregnancy. Avoid in high doses as the plant can be poisonous.
Healer use: The leaves are a uterine and ciculatory stimulant and expectorant. The extract is an abortive. It can be used to treat nervous spasms, cramps, and strained muscles. The essential oil is used for athritic and sciatic pains. THe tea is helpful for expelling worsm and promoting the menses. In general the herb is good for stomach cramps, tension headaches, removing warts and pimples, eyewash, gargle for sore throats, tendon injuries, painful bruising, coughs, croup, tooth, and infections.
