Witchhazel
Description: large shrub with smooth brown bark, fragrant winter flowers, and woodsey fruit pods.
Healer use: A distillation of the leaves and flower-bearing twigs is a disinfectant and astringent. It is used on chapped skin, sunburn, bruises, swelling, rashes, to stop bleeding, to reduce varicose veins, and hemmoroids.
Cooking use: Seeds are edible and can be brewed for a warming tea.
