Guide for Mentees
In the past we've found that new members sometimes rush to get through mentorship, putting more emphasis on "when do I get released" than on learning club rules. We've even received questions about the guidelines for getting off membership from persons who hadn't even been assigned mentors yet. This trend was rather disturbing to us: it put undue pressure on our mentors, and resulted in some members being on their own before they were ready.
In response to this, we have instituted the following policy:
All new members will remain under mentorship until their mentor is confident that they have settled in. Some things a mentor looks for to determine readiness are error-free coposts, solid canon, and a mentee's willingness to ask about questionable storylines before jumping into them.
The leadership of Triad Weyrs respects the intuition of our mentors, so at any time a mentor may contact the Council with any reservations as to releasing a new member from mentorship even after the above criteria has been met. The Council will review the information presented and decide whether an extended mentorship is warranted.
Mentees are expected to accept the decision of mentor and the Council without argument.
