Characters: E'naer, G'wen
Description: Feral Clutches.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 10 of Turn 7

E'naer's weyr was turning in to a flit gather. Looked almost like every
available firelizard had came there, their jewel-eyes aimed to the very
egg-heavy and cranky Feral. They hummed. The eggs distorted the tiny gold's
body in a way that had to be extremely uncomfortable and her mood reflected
it. Except for giving her food and water, E'naer hadn't been able to
approach her for days.
She was nested in the sand box provided to her as her Hatching Sands.

"Shards, I'm so happy when this is over," E'naer murmured. "I don't envy
goldriders at all if this is how their queens behave."

"Tell me about it," G'wen muttered. "Neath couldn't be more obnoxious if
she tried." His green had been besotted with tiny Feral. She had taken it
hard when she had been told she would never lay eggs and have young, like
to real queens did. He cast a sad eye to his green, who had managed to
shove her entire head into the weyr so she could watch the clutching. Her
occasional croons went right through his skull, but he didn't have the
heart to tell her to stop. Sighing deeply, he turned back to his weyrmate.
"I really need to try to find a gold eye one day, just so Neath can have
her own baby."

"Maybe Feral would provide us one?" It was wistful thinking from E'naer's
part. Feral was young, it was unlikely she would clutch a gold egg.

The tiny gold pushed the sand, forming a shallow and the positioned
herself. "She's starting!" E'naer said with excitement.

"You sure she's not just having a...you know..." From her position in the
doorway, Neath snorted her opinion of G'wen's cheekiness, causing the
curtains to flutter.

"Don't be ridicilous," E'naer sighed while Feral pushed. The first egg
rolled into the sand box, glistering wet and pale bluish in colour.

G'wen grumbled and rolled his eyes. "You and Neath have no sense of humour."

"Not around Clutching queens, no," E'naer replied with slight smile. "Do
you want one of those eggs for yourself?"
He asked while Feral grumbled, complained and produced the second egg. Then
she seemed to take a break and spent a moment inspecting the two she had
laid so far.

G'wen stared at E'naer and blinked. "Really? You mean it? I can have an
egg?" He looked from the clutching gold to his weyrmate and back again.

"Of course you can have, my dear," E'naer replied lovingly.
Meanwhile Feral settled to lay more eggs again.

Leaning against E'naer, G'wen gave him a tender kiss on the lips. "Thank
you. I wonder which colour Neath'll like?"

"Gold, naturally. I wonder if she would settle for bronze?" E'naer grinned.
"Think of the implications...we could share a mating flight..."

"Ohhh..." G'wen had never thought about_that_before. Neath was always so
gold-crazy that he figured it would be a tiny queen or nothing. But a
bronze, one that could share a Flight with E'naer. A Flight with E'naer...
Swallowing hard, he reached out to Neath.

**What d'you think? Would you like a little bronze to take care of?**

}:Like...as in my own egg? Mine? My baby?:{ Neath's head snapped up, almost
hitting the top of the weyr. }:My own egg...:{

G'wen swallowed again, hard, to stop the little sob at the way Neath rolled
that idea around in her mind. She so wanted to be a queen, with everything
that a queen got to do, including having eggs. **Yes_you're_own little
baby. What do you think?**

}:Didn't she just jump out of her hide, :{ Eillispeth commented with amused
tone of Neath's reaction.

** I take she likes the idea of an egg?**

}: Very much :{ the older green confirmed. Eillie had more than enough of
"babies" to care for...all the weyrling dragonets.

G'wen turned to his lover, blinking a few tears out of his eyes. In a low
voice, he said, "I think it's a yes."

"Good, then one of them is yours," E'naer said and pulled him to a tight
embrace.

Feral laid her fourth egg and creeled at them because they weren't watching
her!

Neath creeled back, or at least a dragon-sized equaliant of that sound.
G'wen clamped his hands to the side of his face, convinced the sound was
going to shake his back teeth right out of his head. "Neath!"

}:What? I was only trying to comfort her.:{

G'wen just sighed heavily and gave E'naer a sideways glance. "She's going
to be a right pain in the backside, you just watch."

"Isn't she always?" E'naer muttered but very, very quietly. Feral laboured
her fifth egg and glared them. "Yes, we are watching and admiring. Those
are very beautiful eggs," E'naer hurried to reassure her. "Someone likes to
be the centre of attention," he sighed and fetched bowl of water for Feral.
She took a moment to rest and drink before clutching a particulary large
egg.

Neath crooned at her. If the men were going to chatter on together at least
she could let Feral know who the star was.

Feral's sixth egg rolled to the sands. She was starting to look much
slimmer, and exhausted.

"I think she's nearing the end now," E'naer gave Feral encouraging scratch.
"Won't reach ten."

"Good, then she won't mind me taking you off to the bathing pool then, will
she?" G'wen gave E'naer a flirty little kiss to let him know_exactly_what
he had in mind.

"She will mind if we don't wait until she's done. Little bit patience, my
dear," E'naer replied with affection. Speaking of patience...the way G'wen
was looking at him made it difficult to keep his own patience.

"Okay," G'wen mocked huffed. "Glass of wine instead?"

"Of course," E'naer grinned.

Feral grunted, pushed and seventh egg rolled out to the sands. She fussed
with it, placing it among the others. Then she positioned herself to lay
again.

G'wen watched her for a moment before standing up and fetching the wine.
The bottle was half empty but there was still enough in it for two glasses.
Placing one in E'naer's hand, he sat down to watch the flit.

Feral laid the eight egg while her humans watched and sipped the wine. She
pushed the egg to a cluster with others and then wrapped herself around
them. The humming stopped and the flits started to leave E'naer's weyr.

"I'll say she's done. Eight, not bad," E'naer remarked.

"Great, I'm just started." With a laugh, G'wen pulled E'naer towards the
bathing pool.
