Description: Qorri comes to speak to the lady about an issue.
Location: Green Valley Hold
Date: month 12, day 15 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Reven, Relea, Coran
With a young child, Arippa was quite busy and Qorri knew and
understood that. Now that she had been at hold for as long as she had,
she could manage the work without asking many questions. Truly, she
had a firm hand on Green Valley and her style of management showed in
its results. She had also wanted to give the holder and his wife some
space as they became used to the young baby and got used to each other
again. It was a conscious decision to avoid bothering them.
Today, though, she felt she needed to bother Arippa. So with the hide
of a half-started menu in her hand to have an excuse, she entered the
lady's quarters then waited for one of her lady's maids to tell her
she was there. And they knew better than to dawdle because in the end
they reported to Qorri as everyone else did.
"Good Morning Qorri," Arippa smiled as she shouldered the baby for burping.
"Morning." She spared a small smile for the little one. She'd never
had any of her own but had fostered plenty of older children. And then
the small disappeared when she remembered the reason for coming. She
waited until the women cleared out. "Lady Arippa, I have cause to tell
you something unpleasant."
"Oh?" Arippa's smile didn't drop. She knew Qorri never came to her
with a problem that she didn't also have a solution for. She didn't
expect any different now. "What's going on?"
Not knowing how to proceed any other way than directly, Qorri moved
further into the room. "I recently had an exchange with your
sister-in-law. I have had dealings with the young woman and I like
her. However, during this exchange she had cause to tell me she had
a discussion with your husband. During this discussion he had spoken
to her about womens' lingerie. Forgive me since it's been sometime
since I was a holder but I'm quite sure that is not proper conversation
to be having." The headwoman's lips were thin and it was clear she didn't
like being in this position.
Her smiled faded a little. She trusted Reven but these rumors about
him and Relea had come up again and again. "Did she give you anything
other than the subject matter?"
"She was looking for a gift for her husband's birthingday. Apparently
she asked Reven and that was what he suggested. Still, you can imagine
my reserve." Especially since the subject had come from him and not
from poor Relea. Surely the Holder knew enough about what was and what
wasn't proper conversation? "The poor girl isn't very experienced socially
due to
her condition so I don't think she would have recognized that it was
inappropriate when she told me, but I did of course."
"Of course," Arippa replied softly. The baby gave a loud burp and
Arippa grinned at the Headwoman and stood to put her into her cradle
to sleep. "I'll speak to him," she added. Her mind searched for a way
to bring up the subject without causing a fight but somehow she had to
help her husband see how his words and actions could be misinterpreted
by others. "Thank you Qorri," she nodded. "Was there something else?"
"No Lady, I'll leave you to your little one." That took a weight off her
shoulders.
Now it was no longer her problem, thank Faranth. With a quick look at the
child,
she turned and left the chamber.
