Cinale

Cinale

"Oh shards, hon. Was that a raindrop I just felt?" Cinale asked, looking up at the dreary sky.

Daigoro had come into the kitchens earlier, told her girls that he was taking the head cook out for some fresh air (she'd tried to ignore the grins and knowing looks they had all given each other) and were now a ways from the Hall, following the lane, going no where in particular. But now...

Another drop splashed on the tip of her nose.

"That it is," he said with a smile, tilting his head towards the sky. "Well, at least we don't have to worry about snow and ice anymore."

"At least with snow and ice you don't get soaked to the skin!" she cried as suddenly the clouds opened up, pouring heavy sheets of rain down on them both. Grasping his hand, Cinale huddled closer against him, her eyes searching along the sides of the path for cover.

"There," he pointed an old abandoned cot. "I don't think anyone uses that one anymore."

"You planned this, didn't you?" she gasped once the reached the cover of the overhang. But when she turned her face up to his, she was grinning.
Blinking the droplets from her lashes, she smoothed the errant, damp tendrils back from her eyes and behind her ears. She frowned down briefly at her clothes, then looked back up at him, wrinkling her nose.

"If I had planned this I would have brought myself an extra set of clothes," he chuckled. The Hallsecond turned grabbed the door nob and twisted. "Locked," he sighed.

"Figures," she muttered, her teeth chattering slightly.

"Well, let's see if we can't get in through one of these windows." He looked around self-consciously. It wouldn't do for anyone to see the Hallsecond breaking into the cot with the unmarried Headcook. He looked at one window and then the next until he found one that looked to have been left slightly ajar. His thick fingers just barely fit between the window and the sill and after a little rocking and muttered curses, the window budged. "Here we go," he proclaimed triumphantly.

"Brilliant, love!" she grinned before glancing over her shoulder. She hoped no one would get the wrong idea...but there was no one about anyhow!
It was pouring rain, for Fanath's sake!

"You wait by the door. I'll open it for you." He folded his big frame, with only a wee bit of difficultly, through the opening. His sharp cry of pain could be heard as he dashed his toe maneuvering around an old table.
"Be right there!" he called as he hopped up and down, trying to dull the pain. It wouldn't do to look all damaged in front of Cinale over a little toe! Finally he got to he door and after fiddling with the lock a moment was able to open it. "Welcome, traveler! Come on in."

"It's very nice of you to take me in, sir," she chuckled, sliding past him into the room. It was cold in here, but at least it was dry! Her fingers itched to grab kindling and start up a small fire to warm the room a little.

"Ah, yes, you are most welcome," he smiled. Ok, now that they were there... just what should they do with themselves? "Ah... shall I take you on a tour?"

"Sure, hon. A tour sounds nice." Not there could be much to this place... But it did give her an excuse to link her arm through his, shifting closer.

"Great, well. This," he said with a sweeping arm towards the room he had just stumbled through, "is the... family room. I personally enjoy curling up with a good book by the fire there."

And she could just see him curling up on the sofa with a book propped up on his chest, the crackling light of the fire making his graying hair shine silver, his eyes intent on the words in front of him, his lower lip maybe sticking out just slightly as he turns to the next page... "Any book in particular?"

"You'd laugh at me if I told you," he said with a shake of his head as he turned her back around.

"Oh come on, hon," she grinned, her interest piqued. "Tell me? I promise I won't laugh at you."

He let out a deep dramatic sigh. "Pirate adventure stories."

Unable to keep the grin from her face, she bent her head to brush her cheek against his shoulder. "I've never read any. Are they good? They must be if they hold _your_ attention, hmm?"

"They are if you like plunder and looting and sailing and the like," he chuckled. "What can I say, I grew up at a seaside Hold. Some of it had to rub off on me."

She chuckled. "So do these plunderers and looters have morals?"

"Their own brand of them, yes," Daigoro nodded. "And here is the kitchen.
This is where... well, the cooking is done."

"Mmm..." And she could just see herself chopping the vegetables on a small wooden block like that dusty one in the corner of the counter...without the dust, of course - calling over to him in the next room is he wanted them cooked or raw. He would mumble a half-response, and she'd have to walk all the way over to the living area and ask again... The thought made her grin.

"And this door leads to..." He pulled on the nob and laughed when it came off in his hands. "Probably the necessary. But it seems to be off limits at the moment."

Cinale snorted - quite an unlady-like noise, to be sure, and she had the grace to blush a little.

Daigoro thought it was endearing. "All right, and now we have the upstairs," he said pointing to the staircase. "Which I better check and make sure is stable before I ask you to climb it."

"Are you sure that _you_ should climb it? I'm not sure if I want to carry you back to the Hall with an injured tailbone..."

"Ha ha," he said looking over his shoulder, testing each step. "As sound as the day they were made! All right, upstairs tour."

Grinning, she began to follow him up. Outside, rolling thunder could be heard in the distance, and the patter of rain on the roof outside increased. "Shells...it's really coming down..."

"That it is," Daigoro nodded as he took her hand to help her up the last couple steps. "Alright, now, over here we have..." He opened the door.
"A closet."

"With some shelves," she added, looking it over. The closet was actually rather big - no doubt for storing heavy winter coats, boots, gloves, hats... And Daigoro's...special...hat would hang on that peg there, for it'd have to become tradition for him to wear it when they went out walking the snow...

"And over here," he said opening another door. "Is the... guest bedroom."

"What makes you say it's the guest room?" she asked, looking over his arm.

"Because that one's the baby's room," the Hallsecond laughed pointing at the open door at the end of the hall. "See, it has a rocking chair and everything!" He turned a thoughtful smile towards her. "You want to try it out?"

She smiled back, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. "I do." They made their way down the hall and after pushing the door open further, Cinale moved to carefully sit down in the chair. Leaning back, she smiled lovingly up at him and began rocking it back and forth, back and forth.

"It suits you," Daigoro beamed, imagining a little baby snuggled up in her lap. His baby? Shards, he hoped someday...

Her smile grew, and as she rocked forward again, she caught his hand gently in hers. "I might just have to get myself one of these someday..."

"Yes, I think you do," he grinned as he helped her back up to her feet. "Looks like another door down the hall we didn't open yet. You want to see what's inside?"

"Do you?" she asked, returning his grin as they both walked towards the door.

He turned the knob and pushed the door open. "After you."

Cinale smiled at him, went in, and stopped abruptly in her tracks, Daigoro nearly colliding into her from behind. Blushing, she rubbed the side of her neck as her eyes traveled over the room, trying not to look at the bed situated in the middle too much.

"Ah, and this would be... Well, the master bedroom." Daigoro noticed her blush. It did seem to be getting a little warm in the room. "Yes, well, nothing really to see here. This room is most used for...sleeping."

She cleared her throat. "Yes. Sleeping." Oh shards, that came out wrong. Her blush deepened.

"Yes, well, I guess that's everything except the bathing chamber there,"
he said with a sheepish point to door that obviously lead into it. "We don't need to look at that."

"No...I don't suppose we do." She bit her lower lip lightly, blushing as her thoughts turned in a direction they most certainly should not have.
When had she become such a romantic? The question came to her even as she took his hand in hers, gently.

Daigoro could tell she was having romantic thoughts, and he couldn't help but think them himself. If only this was their home, that they were man and wife, that there was a baby in the baby's room and a fire in the fireplace, a pot of stew on and water for tea... He leaned down and kissed her softly, wondering if she was thinking the same thing he did.

And she was. Her fingers slowly tightened around his as she responded to his kiss just as softly, longingly. Perhaps one day they would be sharing a small cothold like this together... Perhaps...

The big brewer pulled back and smiled down at her softly. Finally he murmured, "Well, I guess there's a pause in the rain. We best be getting back."

Her eyes glinted teasingly up into his. "We just have to be careful that you won't slip on the mud like you did on the ice!"
