The juiciest gossip

Writers: Avery, Paula
Date Posted: 24th November 2015

Characters: Mirdella, Mirdello, Mirrys, Indella
Description: The siblings catch up with gossip.
Location: Hidden Meadows
Date: month 2, day 6 of Turn 8
Notes: Mentioned: Rethisa, Demir, Zathris (indirectly)

Mirdello knocked on his sister's door. He was looking forward to
talking to her children. And it was high time they had a talk about
Demir and his new wife.

"Mirrys, homework first, then you can go out to play," Mirdella
commanded her son and went to open the door.
"Mirdello, do come in," she said with the warmth reserved only to him
and her children.

He stepped in and looked around. "How are they today?"

"The usual," Mirdella replied with a smile. "Mirrys doesn't want to do
his homework, Inadel has already done his and some extra," she
continued. Indella didn't have harper lessons yet.

"Hi uncle Mirdello," Mirrys greeted.

"HI Mirrys. What's your homework?"

"Everything," the boy replied gloomily. "That harper takes pleasure of
torturing me with loads of homework," he complained.

Mirdella just chuckled. "Maybe uncle Mirdello can help you with them,
while I make klah. Do you want something with it?"

"Extra milk," he requested.

"As for being tortured with homework, I realize it might seem like a
burden, but you know that it's very important to do. Then you can be
as smart as me." Mirdello reminded his nephew.

"I'm going to be a beastcrafter, I don't need this stuff," Mirrys said
with disgusted tone.

"Some of it can be useful when you're older. Good handwriting and a
sound grasp of figures helps you know what you have and what you can
feed your beasts. What are you working on now?"

"The multiplication and divisions," Mirrys replied. "Am I just
supposed to remember all those tables?"

"That's how I did it. If you're having trouble, maybe the harper knows
another way."

"Bah," Mirrys snorted.

Indella came in and climbed into Mirdello's lap. "I can write my
name," she told proudly, her finger inside her nasal.

"That's very nice, dear," he told her, wincing at her hand. "You
should show us some time."

"Take your finger off from the nose, dear," Mirdella scolded her
daughter and placed a klah mug in front of her brother. She gave the
children sandwiches. She picked Indella up and placed her on a free
chair.

The man took the klah and drank from it, grateful for the warm. "So
you've had dinner with the new lady?"

"A breakfast actually. Did you know that she's Lord Holder's sister?
And she's pregnant," Mirdella replied. She took a seat too.

"Already? What _has_ our brother been doing?" He hadn't thought Demir
was the type.

"I don't know, but she's pretty far along. Do you have any idea when
they first met?" Mirdella replied.

Mirdello thought about it for a moment. "No, I don't. He's been
traveling back and forth pretty regularly."

"Me neither. I don't get to go to the Amber Hills hold often enough to
stay in touch with the happenings there or gossip," Mirdella said and
sighed. She had friends there who she missed.

"We should take a visit. Demir might not want to go back if his wife's
expecting and there will be some reports to bring over there soon
enough," he suggested.

"That would be nice. I miss my friends there," Mirdella said with wistful
smile.

"Then we should do so. I'll talk to Demir about it. Maybe we'll hear
some interesting facts while we're there."

"And I will talk with my husband," Mirdella smiled. Of course, he
never said no to any of her requests so it was just a formality.

"Excellent. It will be nice to spend a day or two there. And I _would_
like to learn more about Rethisa. Especially since you said she's
related to the Lord."

Mirdella nodded in total agreement and smiled slightly. She knew
exactly which ladies to talk to to find out the juiciest gossips.
