Description: Coran and Relea share breakfast after her run-in with her former beau, Nico.
Location: Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 3, day 5 of Turn 8
Relea felt a little bad about leaving Nico like that, but she also didn't
want to lead him on. While they had become friends and the riverboat hand
had wanted more, she loved her husband and refused to allow either man to
think that she wasn't content with her life. As they walked away, she
signed to Coran. "Did you not read my note?"
Coran arched an eyebrow. "What note?"
"The one I left for you." Relea knew her husband would worry if she
hadn't, but it seemed the note had somehow gotten overlooked. "It was on
my pillow."
"I didn't see a note." He signed in reply. Coran wished he _had_ seen the
note, perhaps then he could have approached the situation more calmly.
Relea frowned. What had happened to it? Before she had left, she had
thought she'd placed it where it would be easily seen. "I hope I didn't
worry you." Which was why she'd left the note in the first place.
"Just a little." He admitted. Coran felt some of the jealousy he'd been
feeling earlier start to subside as they entered Emerald Falls now that he
knew his wife hadn't slipped off to meet up with a former beau.
"I'm sorry." Relea remembered quite clearly the reaction he'd had when
she'd gone to pick flowers outside the hold walls. Where they currently
were, however, was a lot busier with more people around, so his fear of her
getting snatched up wouldn't make sense. "I'm glad you found me. I hope
you weren't wandering too long."
Coran shook his head, "No, not too long. I checked the gardens first, when
I saw you weren't there the docks were my next choice."
Relea's lips curled up in a smile. Somehow he'd known, even though there
were no docks like that back at Green Valley. "I'm glad you found me.
We're extremely hungry."
The healer almost questioned her about the "we" and then it dawned on him
what she was saying. A smile lifted the corners of his mouth as they walked
into the Dining Hall, "Let's take care of that then."
The young woman was glad he wasn't angry at her. The last thing she wanted
was another fight like they had before. Even if Coran had promised not to
react physically, she still didn't like to upset him. "Did you get enough
sleep?" Normally, the healer survived on so little she wondered how he
managed to stay awake during the day.
"Yes, it's still different than sleeping at home." Even though they'd only
been at Emerald Halls for one night so far, he was already missing their
bed at Green Valley.
"Maybe you'll be able ti get some real rest here." Sometimes Relea worried
about her husband. "Do you think there will be a healer who might be
persuaded to come to Green Valley?" It seemed as if there was never enough
help. Relea blinked a little as they passed into the dimmer light of the
Hold. With the scent of breakfast wafting through the halls, her stomach
began to growl.
"I don't know." He signed with one hand, as his other guided her to a table
where they could sit. Coran didn't know how to explain to Relea that
bringing in another healer was pretty much out of his hands. He wasn't a
Mastercrafter, and he wasn't the Holder, so all he could do was _request_
for more assistance, and then just sit and wait.
"How are you feeling today?" he asked, seemingly over his bad mood from
earlier.
"Right now, I'm starving. I'm hoping I can keep breakfast down." Relea
had been hit or miss with food. At that moment, however, she wasn't
nauseated, she was just down right hungry. "You need more help, Coran.
You're overworked."
"I enjoy my work." he said, before being momentarily interrupted by a
drudge bearing a tray of klah and juice. He smiled his thanks to the young
woman as he retrieved a cup for himself and Relea.
"I want you to enjoy it, I'm glad you do, but it just feels like you put in
so many more hours than others." Or maybe they were all putting in too
many hours. Relea had no idea how many shifts the other healers took.
Coran smiled a little as they waited for the drudge to return with food. "I
think that's just the life of a healer, no matter where you're at or how
many of you there are." It was true he spent four nights out of the seven
on-call or in the infirmary, but he'd had similar shifts even when he'd
been at the crafthall.
"At least you're helping people in your craft." Relea didn't particularly
want to craft, but she did wish she was a little more useful to the Hold.
At least she was able to be creative, even if what she did wasn't as
important. "We're here for another couple of days, what do you want to do
after breakfast?" They might as well make use of the time they had.
Coran had spent a lot of time at Emerald Falls in his lifetime, he knew the
Hold and surrounding area pretty well. "It's your choice, we will do
whatever you would like."
"If we had more time, we could take a trip down the river." But they
wouldn't be back in time if they did that, so Relea knew that wasn't an
option. "Whatever we do, as long as I'm with you, I'll be happy."
He didn't really have any interest in traveling the river anyway, so it
wasn't a disappointment to Coran that they wouldn't be able to do that.
"I'm sure we'll find something." He said, even though he would have been
just as happy not doing anything but resting in the room with his wife.
