Lenala

Lenala

Rhosyn had slept as long as she could. Then she'd gotten up and spoken to
the Weyr before going back to bed. Unfortunately she'd had to get up again,
prepare for threadfall, and then lead the wing through the fall despite
everything going on. After Fall ended and everyone was back at the Weyr, she
did her usual rounds. That included visits with the healers, the
dragonhealers, and assisting where she was needed. Grabbing food and popping
it into her mouth, she satisfied her craving and then headed to check on the
one person who had been on her mind. Hopefully she'd had enough time to rest
and recover so that she felt up to visiting.

"Can you tell Lenala I'm here please?" she told the healer on duty.
Somewhere along the line, she'd stripped out of her flight
leathers-necessary in the heat. She was in a light top and a light, flowy
skirt. She was tired, though, and it showed in her face.

"Certainly, Weyrwoman," Drumilla replied and tried not to yawn. She had a
long night and day behind her. She left Rhosyn to wait and checked the
patient. Due her rank, Lenala had one of the few private rooms. A small
cubicle with barely room for bed and two chairs. "She's awake, so you can go
in," Drumilla reported when she came back. "Try to keep it brief, please.
She's weak after her ordeal," the young healer's voice was soft with
sympathy.

Walking forward, Rhosyn entered quietly and looked around. Not much to look
at. Seeing Lenala in the bed, she had a spot of panic but quickly pushed it
down. She was healing, after all. "Well, threadfall is over. Lanniya is
still alive. Slight victory for the Weyr and all that. Hope they're giving
you enough fellis. I told them to." She sat down and adjusted her legs.
Thankfully, she was small and didn't take up much room.

"Rhosyn," Lenala acknowledged her arrival with a hoarse croak. Then she just
stared at her. Right now she didn't give a shit how the Fall had gone or who
lived or not. She was wallowing in her own misery. A part of her was
insulted: no how are you feeling- just straight launch into business.

That was one of the Weyrwoman's problems-the situation was very close to her
so she wasn't exactly sure how to respond and her usual social awkwardness
had raised its head. "You're alive too. I was worried about that last night
when everything...but you're alive and talking. But....I'm really sorry
about the little one. I thought you would make a much better mother than me.
You would have." She went quiet then, looking at her lap and hoping that
Lenala wouldn't hate her for having a child she didn't have much to do with.

"Thanks," Lenala said. She wasn't quite sure what she was thanking for.
Complimenting her for better mother or for the sympathy. Right now she
didn't really _feel_ anything. She was numb. The reality would hit her
later.

"Are you comfortable? I mean...is there anything you want or need? I can
bring things from your weyr...your clothes..." Rhosyn hadn't had too many
long stays in the infirmary but she liked the feel of her own gown on her
body instead of the ones they provided. She really didn't know what else to
say really.

Lenala shook her head. "I'm good," she said. What she wanted they couldn't
give her, like her baby back.

Biting her lip, Rhosyn wondered what to do. Maybe Lenala didn't really want
to bothered just then. She might be hurting or tired. "Okay well if you
change your mind, have Vilarth or one of the healers tell me and I'll get
you whatever you want. I know you're probably tired so I'll let you rest.
Take your time. I've got everything handled. I'll check in tomorrow maybe if
you're feeling better."

"Alright," Lenala replied automatically. She was feeling too apathetic to
care one way or another. Or even notice how uneasy and uncertain Rhosyn was.
