C'rin

"Congratulations." A'dryn plastered on a smile for the new weyrling,
trying to share in the Weyr's relief. "That was quite... harrowing."
He felt so terribly for Lenala.

It had certainly been interesting. C'rin had just met his new lifemate
and then suddenly he was trying to control the reeling emotions of his
young dragonet as Dasveth reacted to his golden mother's panic. "It
was something for sure. I'm just glad that that everything has settled
down for a bit."

"Every dragon found a lifemate, thank Faranth." Would Vilarth truly
have let her children die if Lenala hadn't controlled her? For a
moment A'dryn pictured the Sands full of dead dragonets and he shied
away from the thought.

C'rin had never been at a hatching where lifemates were left on the
Sands, but he'd heard horror stories about it before. "Dasveth was
pretty content to be left in his couch to sleep as soon as I got his
belly full. I was told to leave and come celebrate since it'll be the
last little break I'll have until after Weyrlinghood."

"They're right. Weyrlinghood is rather overwhelming." A'dryn was just
getting out of it as C'rin was starting. It made him think of the tides.

"Well, you made it through. Any pointers?" C'rin asked as they headed
into the bustling Dining Cavern.

"Remember that you have to be the discipline in the relationship. I
gave Nalarith too much leeway at first." She was his reason for living
and he'd been focused on her happiness.

"Luckily I have some experience with that, I'm the oldest of my
siblings." C'rin told A'dryn.

"That should serve you well, then." A'dryn started to smile but then
remembered that he would never see his siblings again.

"I hope so, I would hate to think all the Turns I've spent in the
creche and in Candidate lessons were for nothing." C'rin looked
around, trying to spot his mother in the crowd.

A'dryn tried to shake off his melancholy. "Young dragonets are quite a
bit like toddlers, with the added difficulty of sharing your mind."

"I look forward to actually getting to Weyrling lessons. I've been in
Candidate classes so long that I'm ready to move forward." C'rin said,
as he finally spotted a glimpse of his mother in the crowd.

"I quite enjoyed the challenge of training." Although he'd had some
difficulty with the physical aspects. Being an understeward meant time
spent at a desk, not out developing muscles.

Fortunately for C'rin, he had inherited his father's broad-shouldered,
muscular frame. "I'm going to go catch up with my family. I'll see you
around?"

"Yes. Congratulations, again." A'dryn glanced over at the food.
Perhaps he'd eat something quick and leave early. He still wasn't in a
mood to celebrate. Poor Lenala.
