The drama of the Hatching had given way to a long night celebrating, and thankfully the morning after dawned on a rest day. F'lin slept late and took his time in the morning, both to nurse a hangover and because he could. He found himself drawn back to his office -- temporary office -- in the afternoon, though, thinking that he might spare a candlemark to finish up some of the reports he was compiling for K'sedel. Yawning, he stumbled through the hall, but paused when he passed the door to the Weyrwoman's office. **Apparently I'm not the only one doing hidework on a rest day,** he thought, then knocked.

A head of red hair came up, followed up by a face full of hazel eyes and a half open mouth. There was a half full mug of klah nearby and some bread pastries that had been partially eaten. Surprised that anyone had found her, Rhosyn was half startled before she saw it was F'lin. Then her eyes narrowed. **Why is F'lin finding me in my office today? Shouldn't he be out doing young bronzerider things?** With Lenala out for the count for awhile, the Weyrwoman had decided to take the time to catch up on some work before the overloading started. She had a few ideas to manage some help, but those would perhaps go into action in a few days when she could meet with some people. "Oh, can I help you, F'lin?" Her hair was haphazard, sticking out from its plait in places. Her tunic had a jam spot on it and her shorts were her comfortable pair with a few rips. As she said to Lanniya that shoes were for public but they didn't have to be in private-she was barefooted just then with sandals nearby.

"Actually, I was going to ask you that." The bronzerider leaned his shoulder against the door jamb. Rhosyn looked exhausted. "It's been a tough couple of days with Lenala... how're you doing?"

Her eyes flickered for a moment, wondering how best to answer the question. If she gave him the complete truth, it'd likely not go well. Rubbing the back of her neck, she gave a small sigh. "Well...I just had a lot more work dumped on me and I'm still waiting to see how things will go with her. At least the hatching's over and everyone Impressed."

She threw up her hands and leaned back into her seat. "I'll give it a few days then see what Lanniya and a few others can do. I'm not fool enough to think I can do this all by myself. Even the amazing Rhosyn has limits. Course Solieira keeps me steadily supplied with sandwiches and good things so that helps." Chuckling, the small goldrider stretched and reached for the glass of water. "Still liking the Wingsecond job?"

"Best part of my day!" he said cheerfully. "And you should tell K'sedel I said that." Because if enough people said it, maybe he'd finally get the knots permanently...

"Mmm okay. Why don't you tell him yourself?" She was trying to think of just how much more she should try to accomplish before giving up for the day.

"I already have." F'lin's smile faded. Her answer didn't give him a lot of faith. "But... I have to ask, Weyrwoman. When you sent R'enh to K'sedel... was that because of me?"

That gave her pause and it caused her hazel eyes to focus completely on him instead of on her other thoughts. It wasn't a question she would have ever expected to come from him. "Why would you think that?"

"Because my knots are temporary." Because he was too young. Because he didn't have enough experience. Because he was Tsaera's grandson, and didn't deserve them at all. F'lin knew what people said.

"Are they? Who told you that? See the way it works is-the Weyrleader decides who his Wingsecond is and he gives them knots. K'sedel gave you knots so you're his Wingsecond." She had a very confused look on her face and wondered where on Pern he'd come up with that idea, also neatly dodging the question about R'enh.

F'lin didn't bother to correct her-- his arrangement with K'sedel wasn't a secret, and if she didn't want to talk about it, that was her choice. Briefly he debated pushing her further, but discarded the idea. Rhosyn could get cranky quickly. Instead he shrugged. "Well... don't stay up too late," he said instead. "And if you need anything, I hope you know you can always ask."

Seeing him go from eager and curious to that look of nonchalance, she reminded herself that he was young and despite himself he didn't have the confidence of some bronzeriders she knew just yet. Rhosyn took a breath and decided to let some of the truth slip out. "Look F'lin, I didn't ask for R'enh to come here. He just happened to be the one who brought Cyradis who I did ask for. He and I are...good friends. And I couldn't very well ask him to sit around the infirmary and watch me worry. He needed something to do. So I sent him to see if there was anything to do as much to see if there was but also to get him far from me."

There was too much history there and it wasn't F'lin's business to know what it was. "One thing to know about me if you haven't figured it out yet-if I have a problem with you, I will tell you directly to your face. So stop second guessing yourself. You're doing a fine job. If you weren't, K'sedel would have demoted you. Sure you're young, but so are many others. We all have to learn somewhere. This is a Pass, there are young Wingleaders everywhere. And just as he gave K'lvin his Wingleader knots and can take them away if he feels K'lvin isn't doing his job, so too he gave you yours and will take them if he feels you aren't completing your duties. No more, no less." As if she remembered something, she picked up a bread pastry and took a bite, chewing. "Your grandmother is very proud of you."

F'lin shrugged, feeling a bit better even though he knew Rhosyn's words were a ploy. Even if they were true. "She's proud of you too," he told her.
