Sitting there in the infirmary, the Weyrwoman was trying not to fidget. She
didn't like to be there. Bad things happened there. Still, she liked Reeva at
least. Sighing, she hoped this went quickly and she could just crawl back
to her office.
Reeva was grey herself, but doing her best not to let it show. She couldn't
say she- who had serious doubts about Rhosyn's current state of health even
without this last incident- was particularly thrilled to be in charge of yet
another careful session of Rhosyn avoiding telling her anything, but at
least it had gotten her through the door. "Morning, Rhosyn. How've you been
feeling?"
"Tired, overworked...but who hasn't?" She looked down at her knees, swinging
them ever so slightly. She felt small and vulnerable, sitting there in the
gown.
The notorious Reeva eyebrow twitched. "Who hasn't, indeed. Tell me, how have
you been feeling since you fainted? Drumilla seemed happy enough with you.
You know I never am."
"She said it was probably due to not sleeping or eating enough, which I know
I haven't. There's so much work to get done though." Looking around the
room, Rhosyn finally settled again on Reeva. "She said I needed to come to
make sure that was all it was. Because that is somewhat fixable."
"It isn't 'somewhat' fixable. It's fixable, with a little self care. But
Rhosyn, you didn't used to be a woman who needed to be reminded to eat and
play. What's *really* bothering you?"
"Nothing. I just have to work harder since Lenala is just now starting to do
more and then with the hurricane and everything. Plus K'sedel was hurt so
K'lvin is completing his duties and it's different. Lanniya is trying but
she's too young and still learning. I need another adult queenrider, but
there isn't one. As always-there's just me. And even I can only do so much.
Ciara and Alfginna are helping too so it's not so horribly bad and there are
others assisting with the hurricane issues but the Weyr is my
responsibility." She rolled her shoulders without thinking, causing a
popping noise to happen.
Reeva noted the grating noise with a small sigh, but said nothing for the
moment, opting instead to raid her bottom drawer stash for something
palatable.
Handing Rhosyn a glass, she poured her own drink and looked a question at
the small figure dangling so awkwardly at the edge of her chair.
"Overwork is not surprising. And sadly, you can't just magic a mature
queenrider into existence. You're not alone though, Rhosyn. But no, it's not
easy. Even keeping this place running isn't easy, let alone the whole Weyr.
Still, we can't exactly do without you, or we will all be deep in the Kakky.
I don't envy you." She took a sip of her drink. "When did the shoulder start
giving you grief?"
"With all the flying and trying to keep up with waterball practice, it's
just a bit stiff. It's not painful or anything." She had been trying to put
hot water on it every chance she got, but with not sleeping and everything
else, it hadn't been a huge priority either. Drinking her own drink, she
waited for Reeva to give her the usual once-over. **Might as well get it
over with.**
Reeva's inspection was a little quicker than normal. She trusted Drumilla,
and her own worries about the Weyrwoman were hardly news. At least she'd got
an admission about the shoulder, which was unlike Rhosyn. When she was done,
she had nothing to report she hadn't fully expected.
She didn't even try her usual lecture this time. "Your shoulder won't get
better with more stress, so you need to let up on it a little. As for the
rest... you might try a little more of the rougher cuts of meat in your diet
to fortify your blood. Then again, you'd need to try eating first, and I know you."
"Well this whole episode upset Orlaith and I really didn't think it would
get that far. K'mai says he'll watch and if I don't eat he'll put it down my
throat. So it'll be allright. Besides, all I need is for the food to get in
front of me." She shrugged, making fun of her normal eating habits.
"Besides, Reeva-things can't continue like this for long. We'll get the
hurricane mess fixed and someday Lenala will be back to normal I hope. Then
it'll be a bit easier." She was holding onto that hope. She needed it.
"Yes." Reeva's own thoughts fluttered to the burden on the infirmary,
and how she was being left with most of the burden of work the Weyrhealer
should have been shouldering himself, but she said nothing. "Anyway, that's
you done."
