Corofel

Corofel

This time they had gotten permission with the appropriate people. R'gelen had picked up Corofel and brought him home to Emerald Falls. The young bronzerider had never been to this Hold yet, so he was hoping his friend would show him around. Besides, with a Gather, there would be a lot of things to do and see. Even though he was still technically in the weyrling wing, he had completed training so he was able to take this trip without worries. "So Corofel, should we go find your Da and say hi first or go find something to eat?" Then again, Corowal might give them food they didn't need to spend marks on. Bronzerider or not, R'gelen didn't have much so he had to be thrifty.

"I suppose we have to see my dad first," Corofel replied and ran his hands through his hair. Helmet had made it all flat. "It might be easier said than done," he commented and peered the crowd that milled around the Gather square. There were colourful market stalls lining the square. Stand for performances was put up against the main building's grey wall. On the fields farther away, he could hear cheering and neighing of runnerbeasts. The races were on.

**Iroth, do you see where Lord Corowal is?** R'gelen sent an image of the Lord Holder to his dragon who was parked on the fireheights, looking down upon the activity in the square.

}:He is where the tables are, speaking to someone:{ the bronze replied, watching.

"I know where is. Come on," the young rider replied, grabbing Corofel's hand and pulling him along through the people. It wasn't hard. Since they were smaller, they could move through the crowds more easily. Plus, R'gelen found ways through the stalls that made the trip shorter. Before too long, they were standing where the tables were arranged around the dancing square. One of them was higher than the others, on a raised platform. "There's your Da."

"Dad! Hey, dad!" Corofel yelled and ran the last few meters.

"Corofel! You arrived safely. So nice to see you," Corowal gave his son a quick hug. He grinned and ruffled Corofel's hair. "So, this is your dragonrider friend? Why don't you introduce us?" He said, watching curiously R'gelen.

"Sure, dad, this is R'gelen, rider of bronze Iroth. R'gelen, meet my dad, Lord Corowal."

The Lord Holder offered his hand to the young rider. "My duty to you, bronzerider."

R'gelen walked forward and looked up at Lord Corowal, taking the man in. Corofel was going to have problems later if he ended up looking like that. The women would bother him day in and day out. "Good day, Lord Holder. We came to check out your Gather. Plus I thought maybe you'd want to see Corofel. It's a very nice spread sir. I've never been to Emerald Falls before."

"Welcome to Emerald Falls hold, and enjoy your stay. I'm glad I finally met you, Corofel has told me so much about you in his letters," Corowal said.

"Oh, he did?" He looked over at his friend. "Well I've heard a lot about you too." Not knowing what else to say, he looked over at Corofel, thinking he should mention something about food now.

"If you're staying here long enough, you're welcome to join the feast supper in our table," Corowal said. It was an honour to be invited to Lord Holder's table.

Corofel nudged his friend, "Eating with all those uppity people, that's boring," he whispered.

"Maybe, but that's where the good food is." R'gelen knew an opportunity when he saw one. "And we don't have to stay there for a long time," he whispered back with a smile.

"Whatever," Corofel shrugged. "Dad, can you give me some marks to spend? We're going to go and see the stalls now. And performances and races and all the other stuff."

Corowal dug into his belt pouch and handed him a few disks. "Have fun, boys and don't get into trouble."

The young bronzerider didn't miss a beat after counting the marks as Corofel pocketed them. "Oh no, no trouble. Not us. Corofel, the races seem like they'll happen soon. We'd better hurry."

"Yep. See you later, dad! Come on, R'gelen," Corofel wasn't going to miss the races.
