Proddiness

Writers: Leigh M-F., Len
Date Posted: 30th June 2017

Characters: A'kua, G'wen
Description: A proddy Neath finds a certain young bronze very much to her liking...much to the horror of both dragons' lifemates
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 14 of Turn 8

G'wen heaved a deep sigh, pressing his fingers to his temples. He pushed hard, to the point of pain, anything to stop Neath's proddiness ebbing onto him. It was bad enough when he was feeling normal, but on top of a headache from his recent concussion it was almost unbearable.
**Neath, would you just have your flight already?** he grumbled to her.

The big green ignored him.

Much more important to her--in her state--was a fine young bronze who had just landed onto his ledge close to the one she shared with Elliespeth. She crooned loudly to get his attention.

G'wen muttered under his breath, "Subtlety has never been your strong point, has it?" The Dinning Hall was mostly empty, no one would care if he looked like he was talking to himself.

"No, actually. Glad you noticed," a new voice quipped, and A'kua sat down on the other side of the table, holding a mug of broth and a single roll. Weyr kitchens often had stews and soups and bread for riders who needed a snack later at night; the dark-eyed redhead didn't often take advantage of it, but with Ilyssia visiting her foster mother for a short while, A'kua was more restless than he'd expected to be. Thus, he had come to the dining cavern just for something to do, since his sister was in bed. "Sorry if I bothered you; that was just a great straight line I couldn't resist."

Despite the headache G'wen couldn't help but giggle. "You're right, it was a good line. My fault for talking out loud to my giant proddy green monster when she's nowhere about."

A'kua made a sympathetic noise. "Greens. My dragon started noticing them this Turn. It surprised him about as much as it did me. Lady dragons make him shy."

}:Did you have to tell him that?:{ Zeiranth asked plaintively from where he was eyeing some unusual cracks in the Weyr wall.

Just at that moment, Neath noticed_him._ Big, bronze, handsome. Everything she needed right now. She crooned in Zeiranth's direction.

}:Whuh?:{ Zeiranth turned his head, finding Neath's gaze fixated on him. He found himself hunkering down. }:Uh.... hi?:{ he weakly ventured.

A'kua put his face in his hands. "Oh, for the love of the Ancients," he mumbled.

"Whats up?" G'wen asked before his face blanched. "Neath...are you...?"
The green ignored him in favour of keeping the oh so handsome young bronze firmly in her sights. }:So there, how come I've not seen you on one of my Flights before?:{

}:Uh- I- Um-:{ Zeiranth somehow became even smaller. }:I'm very young?:{ he offered weakly.

:}But not_too_young.:{ Neath did the dragon equivalent of a wink. }:A pretty boy like you needs to get some experience under his wings.:{

The bronze turned back to the weirdly-shaped cracks in the Weyr wall. }:I'd rather not,:{ he mumbled. }:I mean, not right now- or maybe- um- never mind.:{

**Zei, if you're gettin' this uncomfortable, just find a different ledge, or tell her you really don't want to discuss it,** A'kua advised. **It's not her business if you want experience or not.**

Heartened, Zeiranth coaxed himself into looking at Neath again. }:I'd rather talk about something else,:{ he said with as much polite firmness as he could muster.

}:Oh, but of course. How about we talk about what a handsome bronze you are?:{

Zeiranth rose to his feet. }:Igottago,:{ he mumbled, and took off for the Weyr ridge. Maybe the dragon on watch duty could use some company.

"Smooth, Zei," A'kua muttered, though secretly he was pleased his dragon took that initiative.

Neath snorted to herself before a certain shinny bronze skin caught her eye. Turning to the fine male specimen who had just landed on his ledge, she began. }:Hey you:{

In the Dinny Hall, G'wen buried his face in his hands. "She cannot have her Flight too soon. This behavior is_so_embarrassing!"

"I can only imagine," A'kua said sympathetically. "Best of luck with it."

A muffled groan was all the answer he got.
