Description: Gilsha contemplates the meaning of home
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 27 of Turn 3
}:Shouldn't we be getting into the Wery now?:{ Palialohath asked as she turned her head to look at her rider.
**No, not yet. We are expected _sometime_ today. Not necessarily _now_,** her rider responded with a tolerant smile. **Look at that, Pali. Isn't the scene beautiful?** Gilsha's bright blue eyes gazed out across the Sea of Azov. It seemed to stretch on forever, reflecting the cool afternoon sunlight.
}:Can you wash me in that?:{ the green asked plaintively. }:I have an itch...:{ Gilsha chuckled as she reached over and scratched the spot behind Palialohath's great green jaw. **Do you realize, at this moment, we are Weyrless again?**
}:But we have a Weyr. Dragonsfall is our Weyr now,:{ green reminded her as she began to rumble with delight. }:Now my neck itches.:{ Her rider obediently moved to scratch further along her neck. **Well, we are _going_ to Dragonsfall, but we aren't there yet. Until we do, we are not _technically_ posted there. And we aren't posted at Telgar anymore. That means we are Weyrless for the moment.**
}:But we will be going to Dragonsfall. The queen will get angry if we don't go.:{
**Of course we _will_ go...** Gilsha replied. **Just not yet. It feels too good to not be bound to a Weyr again, even if it is only for a couple more candlemarks.**
She sighed and settled down in the crook of her green's arms, leaned back into the massive body, and breathed deeply of the fresh cool air. It was still cool enough to form white clouds around her lips and nose as she breathed out. Telgar was cool too. River Bluff would still be warm this time of the turn. It was always warm there. It had taken her a couple turns to come to acclimatize herself to the North's cooler temperatures. There were places that weren't quite so cold, though. Igen, Keroon, Southern Boll, Nerat, Ista... Those had been nice. But she did find she liked the seasons further north. At least she wouldn't miss _that_ down here. She _would_ miss the freedom afforded to women in the north though. She knew all too well how the south felt about women. Gilsha could feel an old deep anger rising slightly at the thought.
}:Why are you angry? I thought you were happy to be out here:{ Palialohath crooned softly.
**I am happy to be here. Sorry love, just some... frustrating memories.**
}:It's not a good feeling,:{ Pali stated matter of factly.
Gilsha laughed despite her annoyance at the past. She reached up and scratched the green neck fondly. **No, love of my heart. It's not a good feeling. But see, I don't feel it anymore.** In its place was the true love and admiration that they both shared, one for the other.
**You will be happy to be with so many fine dragons.**
}:And they will have fine riders,:{ the green offered helpfully.
**I'm sure they will. The finest riders.** But many riders meant there had to be a structured life, rules, duties, burning candles that ruled over her life as they melted their marks away...
}:Do you think the water is cold?:{ the green asked, turning her great eyes back out to sea.
**I don't think its very _warm_...**
Pali sighed a draconic sigh. }:Let's wait then. Until we get home.:{
**Yes love, as soon as we report in and stow my gear we'll head straight for the Weyrlake.** But would it really be home? Was Telgar ever home? Was River Bluff? No, they were not home. A weyr was just a stone room to sleep in, a Weyr just a conglomerate of individuals masquerading as comrades fighting a common foe. Right there with Palialohath, _that_ was were she felt at peace, where she felt loved and comfortable and completely herself. Right there, looking out over the sea with the dragon she loved, she was home.
