Reven

"You're leaving me again?" Reven sighed as he came around his desk and sat on the edge of it.

"I'm sorry, when I came back I was hoping things would be different, that maybe people had gotten more open minded." Renette tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear as she regarded her brother. "You know as well as I do _that_ hasn't happened."

Reven studied his sister's face, so similar to his own. "You're right, of course. You know I want you to stay, but I would rather you be happy with your life. Everyone deserves that." With a little sigh, Reven tilted his head. "Well? Where have you decided to go?"

Renette gave her brother a smile, "I've been talking with the harpers at River Bluff. It's where I would like to go."

The holder's eyebrows raised in surprise, "Wow, so far away. Why not Dolphin Cove? That's where the Hall is, isn't it?"

The brunette shrugged her shoulders, "A couple of my friends from the Harper Hall are stationed there. I think it would be interesting to get out of the territory, see something new, meet different kinds of people."

"When will I ever get to see you again?" At least if she went to Dolphin Cove there was the chance that they might see each other at a Weyr Hatching, if he and Arippa could get transportation, but River Bluff was too far away.

A grin came to Renette's face, "Maybe I'll make friends with a dragonrider who won't mind giving me a lift every now and then."

Reven narrowed his eyes a little, "I'm serious."

Renette's eyebrows lifted, "So am I."

"Have you told mom and dad yet?"

"No, I was hoping you might help with that." She turned wide eyes onto her big brother.

"Ugh, no, not the beggy, pleady eyes." He clenched his eyes shut.

Renette got to her feet and grabbed her brother's hands, "Please, Revy."

He peeked one eye open. "Not the nickname too," he groaned.

"Please," she sang the word, adding a tremble to her lower lip.

Reven sighed, and wrapped his arms around Renette's shoulders in a hug, "Fine, I will _go with you_ to tell them. But you're facing Coran on your own."

Renette smiled and popped a kiss onto Reven's cheek, "You're the best!"

"Yeah, sure." Reven agreed, knowing very well that he was wrapped around his little sister's finger.

"I am going to miss you, you know." She said, sobering.

"And I will miss you, of course. I love you, Ren, if you need anything while you're at the Weyr, or if you want to come home, just send me a message." He pressed a kiss to her forehead the way he'd done when she was little.

"I love you too, Reven."
