Teseada

"Hello?" N'call called from the lip of the weyr ledge. Haloth was
already reaching out to nuzzle his mate. N'call slid out of his seat
and bowed to Onnyth before walking to the interior entrance.

"Tes?"

"In here," her voice was slightly muffled as she was pulling on a clean
sweater. "I had to get changed, your son thought I would look better soaking
wet."

"Well," he said as he walked in. "Can't blame him really. You do look
really good all wet."

"He's in trouble, and only lucky it was cold klah that covered me and not a
fresh mug full."

"Ouch, I could take a look and make sure you got it all," he winked.

"Don't tease me like that," Teseada's tone was light. "I ought to get you
rinsing out the mess so you can show Tecall how it's done." Their son wasn't
really old enough to wash it out, and would probably think it was an
absolutely hilarious new game.

He smiled and stepped closer. "I'll happily wash anything you want,"
he said and put a gentle hand on her waist to pull her a little bit
closer.

She returned his smile. "I know you would." But before she could say
anything else, Tecall interrupted.

"Dada, Dada, Dada," he happily burbled.

"Tecall," he grinned and bent to pick up his son. "Hows my big boy
today?" He ran tickling fingers up the boy's back and kissed his
temple.

"In twuble," he said with a pout. "Mama not happy."

"Yes, I know," he nodded seriously. "We like it when mama is happy
right?" He nodded his own head to elicit the correct response in his
son.

Tecall nodded. "Mama be happy?" he asked, looking hopeful.

"How can I resist that," said Teseada, although it wasn't totally clear
whether she was referring to Tecall's face, or N'call being a good father.

N'call grinned at her. He was such a lucky man. He'd thought it would
be a disaster when two such different ladies had turned up pregnant by
him at the same time but somehow they'd worked it all out and truth be
told, he loved them both. His children were a joy to him as well. He
bounced Tecall. "How can you resist us," he quipped. "We think you're
the best Tes in all of Pern."

That did make the Goldrider grin. "Aww," she said, dropping a brief kiss on
the head of her son. "I think you two are pretty good as well."

"Would you like to go down to the dining cavern tonight?" He looked at
Teseada. "Or should I pick up our dinner and bring it back here?"

"How about we have a quiet dinner here for once?" Sometimes the dining
cavern could be noisy and overwhelming. "If someone promises not to throw
things?" She gave Tecall a look.

Young as he was, the boy was able to interpret it. "I be good?"

N'call nodded again and hefted his son. "Shall we go down and pick out
a nice dinner for mana?"

Tecall nodded, throwing his arms around his father.

"I think that means he wants to help you," Teseada said.

"Good idea," he smiled and slung the boy belly down on his shoulder
like a sack of tubers. "We'll be right back." He waggled his eyebrows
at Teseada.

"You better be," she grinned. "I'm getting hungry."

He chuckled and headed out the door with his son giggling on his
shoulder. He kept him up on his shoulders though he adjusted the
position a little while he gathered some Teseada's favorites on the
tray along with a nice loaf of warm bread some jam, and nut butter for
Tecall. He even managed a bottle of wine slipped into the pocket of
his jacket. But with his hands full of boy and tray he couldn't open
the door when they got back so he used his shoe to knock. "Tes we're
back."

"Is your Da a dragon?" Teseada asked with a smile as she saw their son
hanging on to his father.

Tecall nodded. "Bwonze dwagon."

"Okay," his mother said. "Want me to take him or the tray?"

"Queenrider's choice," N'call grinned but offered her the tray.

Teseada took the tray. "Let's eat," she said.

He grinned and swung Tecall down and around in a circle before
depositing him in his chair. "Let's eat," he smiled.
