"Knock, knock," called out the Weyrleader as he gently tapped on the door of
the Weyrwoman's office. "Got five minutes?"
Saibra glanced up at the sound of her Weyrleader's voice and straightened in
her seat. "Of course, come in." She reached a hand up to massage at the
knotted muscle in her neck, a side-effect from how long she had been hunched
over hidework.
"You've been at that too long," he said as he dropped a few hides on her
desk. "Want some help?"
"I'd never turn down an offer of help from the Weyrleader," she teased with
a grin.
"Don't let my weyrmate hear you say that," he joked as he moved around
behind her, gently placing on of his hands on the spot that seemed to be
most tender. "Here?"
"It'll be our secret," she chuckled, eyes closing as she dropped her head
down. "That's the spot," she sighed when he touched the right place.
K'reyel began to massage the area, "You are tense," he said. "Is something
bothering you? You don't have to tell me, but if it's weyr related and I can
help?"
"It has just been more work than I had thought, losing Teseada and Lanniya
being pregnant." The corners of her mouth turned up slightly as K'reyel's
hands began sorting out knotted muscle.
"I get it, the hidework seems endless, right? I'm sure if you leave them
overnight they breed as well," he joked. "Can you delegate some of the
routine things to your wingthird?"
"I still haven't picked one," Saibra admitted. Different riders had been
temporarily trying out the spot to see who would be the right fit, because
none of the riders that she and Teseada had interviewed before Tes left had
been suitable. That thought led her to thoughts of L'keri, since he had
showed up at the wingthird interviews on a dare. "Did you hear about
L'keri's son running away from the creche?"
"No," K'reyel said, as he mulled over what she'd said about not yet picked a
wingthird. "Did they find the boy?"
"Not yet," she answered. "I sent searchriders to local cotholds and alerted
Amber Hills to be on the lookout for a new scamp running around."
"Well, I hope they find him soon. For his sake, and his father's sake."
K'reyel paused his massage. "How does that feel?"
"So much better," she tilted her head to glance up at him. "Thank you,
K'reyel."
"Any time," he said. "Seriously, find a wingthird, and I'll lend you mine to
help you whip one into shape. I'm sure Rorela would find that a fun task."
"I will," she promised, "and I'll also take you up on that offer to Rorela
train this one." That would normally be something Saibra's wingsecond would
do, but without one, it wasn't something she had time to do herself.
"Let me know when you're ready, and I'll speak to her." K'reyel grinned. "I
bet it'd be fun to be a vtol hiding in a corner watching those sessions."
"No doubt." Saibra agreed. "I'm sorry, this has been about me, did you need
something?"
"Just more hides, transfer papers for Asedaly, she's pregnant and wants to
keep this one, and a request from El'dak to formally return to my wing now
Wardoth's wing is healed and the dragonhealer's have cleared him for
/between/."
Saibra pulled the papers toward her, adding her name to the bottom line with
a little flourish. "There we go, then, they're all set."
"Actually, Asedaly might be worth considering for the wingthird, she's got
the experience. Unless you have a candidate in mind," suggested K'reyel.
"I would like to open the spot again, see if there is any new interesting in
it, but I will put Asedaly at the top of the list to speak with." Saibra
said.
"Good, now you need to take a break from this or you'll end up just as
uncomfortable. Go get something to eat, or cuddle your kiddies or
something," he suggested.
If she didn't have R'enh and he Mai, then Saibra had the perfect idea about
what the "or something" could be. Instead she gave him a smart salute, "Yes,
sir. Cuddles with two adorable twins does sound like a good idea."
The Weyrleader grinned. "And I should probably go and take my own advice,
before Mai sends Tero to chase me home."
"Happy weyrmate, happy life," the Weyrwoman chimed as she pushed away from her desk and stood.
"Definitely," her Weyrleader agreed.
