"What made you decide to keep Erdenth out of the flight?" Saibra asked as she dropped down from Chioneth's neckridge, shedding her flight jacket as she did so.

"He made it clear to me that he wasn't impressed with Aglayath," K'reyel said simply, as he too set his booted feet on the beach. His jacket and
headgear were rapidly shed. "And that made the decision for me."

"Well, that has certainly pleased Chioneth." The senior queen was already extending her muzzle to touch Erdenth's in a rare, affectionate gesture. It
pleased Saibra, too, probably because R'enh's Mnoranth insisted on chasing everything with golden hide, and the more annoying part was that he tended to win, unless it was Chioneth. He had already won Lanniya's so Saibra was preparing herself for him to win Ashela's as well.

"If he was human, you'd describe him as picky," K'reyel said as he reached out to pat the bronze's hide. "He knows who and what he likes." A grin
spread across his face, "And that includes Chioneth, Dragon's Fall and leading the Weyr. As well as a select list of people and flits. Don't tell
anyone, but he's got a soft spot for that bronze of Mai's."

Saibra made a motion as if she were using a key to lock her lips and then throwing it away. "His secret is safe with me." The Weyrwoman inhaled the warm salty air with a smile as she shed a few more layers of clothing and then sat down, stretching out her arms and legs to enjoy the prickly warmth of the sun as it spread over her skin.

"If Chioneth's schedule holds true, she and Aglayath may be sharing the Hatching Sands," Saibra pointed out, squinting a little in the sunlight.

"Has she ever had to share before?" asked K'reyel as he followed her example and sat down, leaning back a little to enjoy the sun.

One gold dragon on the sands could be demanding enough for her mate and the rest of the Weyr, two could have the potential to cause chaos. He racked his brain, trying to remember back to his childhood at Thayan Peak, and stories
he'd been told by harpers, but couldn't think of any examples he'd heard of in his lifetime, and only a few from the records.

"Once, at Far Island when Chioneth was a junior queen. The overlap was slight though, with Chioneth clutching just a couple of days before another gold's hatching. So they didn't have to share for very long." Sharing the sands took a pair of goldriders who could control their lifemates, since golds often became petty and possessive on the Sands. Saibra worried that Ashela would not be able to handle Aglayath.

"I'm sure she'll be fine, providing the sands are big enough for two clutches," he didn't say that he too would be concerned about Ashela. "Just
so long as Chioneth makes it clear she's the boss."

Saibra let out a laugh. "Oh, she'll have no trouble doing that." There was nothing meek about Chioneth. Glancing sideways at K'reyel, Saibra studied him lightly, and found herself hoping that Erdenth caught Chioneth again. Would it be wonderful to have Mnoranth win and share a flight with R'enh? Of course. But there was an easiness to her work relationship with K'reyel that she did not want to give up. Weyrmates did not always make the best Weyleaders, she thought.

"Well, Erdenth will help her," K'reyel said. "Assuming he's involved with this next clutch."

"You know, we could take measures to help ensure that he is." Saibra offered with a flutter of her eyelashes in his direction.

"Such as?" an eyebrow was raised in question, although the tone of his words made it clear that he knew where she was going and what she was thinking. "Do those measures start with a swim perhaps? Then a need to get dry and comfortable afterwards?"

"I believe those are exactly the appropriate measures to take." Saibra said with a smile, already reaching to pull off the rest of her clothing so they could swim.

"You'll have to tell me just how comfortable you want to feel," came the response as K'reyel hastily unfastened his clothing. "Or we could just see
what happens, after all there is a flight going on somewhere."

"Oh, I can assure you, I will want to feel quite comfortable." Saibra promised the Weyrleader, crooking her finger at him as she headed for the
water.

The Weyrleader followed, a grin of anticipation crossing his face. "I'm sure I can help you with that, just as I'm sure you'll help me."
