Saibra

Saibra

Jadirah headed towards Saibra's weyr, dressed in old clothes that were
comfortable for working out in. She truly enjoyed the chances that they
got to exercise together, because it was nice to spend time with Saibra.
At first, she hadn't know what to make of the Weyrwoman. She'd met
goldriders before, of course - River Bluff had gone through quite a few
and she'd treated several of them - but Saibra had seemed quite well put
together and less dramatic than most of them. Seeing her through her
pregnancy and realizing that they had some things in common, as women
who juggled the responsibilities of being a mother and being high-ranked
in demanding professions, she'd found a real attachment to Saibra and
begun thinking of her as a very good friend. The chance to drop some of
the mask of having everything put together and under control and just
have a bitch session with a friend was always a good one.

She knocked on the door when she arrived.

Saibra dashed through her weyr, having just changed into her comfy
workout clothes, fingers still making quick work of braiding her hair as
she toed open the door. "Come in, I'm almost ready."

"Sorry if I'm early," Jadirah said, looking at Saibra's work on her
hair. "I was excited to come drop by. How're you doing?"

"I'm just running late, as usual," Saibra said with a grin as she
finished the braid and tied it off. "I am doing...." the Weyrwoman made
a face as she wiggled her hand. "Okay, I suppose. There's a little more
stress this go round, with Aglayath and Chioneth sharing the sands and
all." She sat and tugged on her shoes. "What about you? Kadirah will be
standing."

"I recall you mentioning once that Chioneth wasn't as demanding as
_some_ golds can be," Jadirah said, hoping she remembered right. "But
with another queen there, that must be a lot of pressure on her, and I
hope you're holding up all right under the stress. If I can help, let me
know."

The Master Healer leaned against the wall and sighed audibly at that
question. "It's a little nerve-wracking to have both my children Stand
at once, if I'm honest. I suggested Kadira do this, but it's still
putting me a little on edge. Is that odd?" she asked.

"She's been unusually demanding with Aglayath present." Saibra stood. "I
don't think it's odd at all. As parents we want what is best for our
children, we want to see them follow their dreams and succeed. Kaibren
was my baby for so long that it's hard for me to accept that he's even
old enough to Stand, let alone that in a couple of Turns he could be
fighting Thread."

"He's contending for these clutches as well? How good," she said. "Are
you going to be more nervous with him flying here than you were with
Saidrene doing it elsewhere?"

"Yes," Saibra admitted. "It's not that I don't worry about Saidrene, but
it's sort of... out of sight, out of mind, you know? With Kaibren, I'll
be in the skies, too. It will be hard not to watch out for him." Which
meant she would have to remain extremely focused, the Weyrwoman and her
gold were needed to help with transitions, catches, and rescues.

"I imagine if I rode a dragon I'd be doing the same thing," she said
sympathetically. "I worry about mine even when they're just doing normal
weyrbrat things like getting bit while cleaning out tunnelsnake nests
down in the southeast storerooms."

"What does A'kades think about Kadira deciding to stand?" Saibra asked.

"He actually hasn't talked to me about it," Jadirah said. "She said
she'd talk to him, and she did. And now she's on the Candidate list, so
I assume it was supportive. I suppose I'll find out when I see him at
the Hatching."

"Perhaps if she Impresses some celebratory sex would be in order?"
Saibra teased as they left her weyr.

"Sounds good to me, I am _in need_ of some party time laying. I have a
couple occasional scratch the itch people with here, but nobody who
really sticks out for going back to over and over yet."

"I wish I could suggest a few, but not long after I got to Dragonsfall,
R'enh and I quit seeing other people outside of flights. And since G'nir
and K'reyel are the only two who have been Weyrleader since I've been
here -- I'm afraid that really narrows the playing field."

"I wouldn't want to mess with K'reyel's happy relationship, and G'nir's
not my type," she agreed. "Are you happy being exclusive with R'enh and
settling down?"

"Yes, fairly happy. I won't lie, I've slept with K'reyel outside of our
flights. While Aglayath was being caught by Mnoranth, K'reyel and I
slipped off to a beach just the two of us. It helps keep the
relationship strong so that Chioneth is more likely to be caught by
Erdenth again."

"I see, so it's a way of keeping the leadership team together. But is it
fun, too?"

"Oh it is," Saibra lowered her voice as they walked by some other
riders. "K'reyel looks all sweet and gentlemanly, but he's not afraid to
get dirty."

"You're making it so much _more_ a pity that he's taken. But now you
know a secret few others do." Jadirah giggled.

"And I do so love a good secret," Saibra quipped with a saucy smirk.
