Saibra

"Hey," R'enh said as he entered the weyr as quietly as possible. "How are
you feeling? Did the babies keep you up," he asked in a quiet voice

Saibra rolled over at the sound of her weyrmate, her hand going to
unshutter the glow basket by the bedside just enough to cast a soft
light. "They did, but they were so sweet and playful."

"Sorry I missed it," he smiled and came around the bed to lean down
and give her a warm kiss.

Leaning up into the kiss, Saibra wound her fingers into the front of
his shirt as she returned his affection with equal warmth. "It's okay.
How was the party?"

R'enh chuckled as he pulled back slightly. "She had some uninvited
guests." his eyes twinkled. "And I don't think she was very pleased."

Saibra's eyebrows arched. "I am sensing a story here. Dish."

"Well it was the kind of party you said it would be. Only the highest
ranking or people who are friendly with Aschela." He gave a side shrug
as he admitted, "You were right. She was trying to make the best
impression. I know you don't like her but..." They'd had this
conversation before and he didn't really want to rehash it all again.

She laughed and threw up one finger. “Whoa, whoa. I never said I
didn’t like her, I just don’t trust her. She’s more than slightly
manipulative and after her stunt at Barrier Lake, untrustworthy.” She
reached up and touched a finger to his nose. “But I know you, my love,
have a tendency for taking troubled goldriders under your wing like
stray pups.”

He threw his eyes open and gasped in mock surprise, "Who me?" Then he
broke into a wide grin. "And that my dear is why I love you so much.
You are so very perceptive and sometimes I don't see the forest for
the trees." He knew he always looked for the best in people but he
felt there weren't a whole lot of redeeming qualities in Ma'din. If he and
his brown weren't so good at fighting Thread, he'd have no use for the
fellow.

"Anyway," he said, "Several of our more troublesome riders decided to
invade her party and take it over. I could tell from the way she
stiffened that they hadn't been invited."

“Yes, you. You should count yourself so fortunate that I am not a
troubled goldrider at all.” She struggled to keep her smile at bay as
she said this to him with a gleam in her eyes.

“How did they even know about the party?” she asked of the uninvited guests.

"I am indeed," he smiled and stroked some stray hair out of her eyes.
Then he stood, shrugged and shook his head. "I have no idea, But they
showed up at the door and simply took over the party. You know that
brownrider Ma'din? Well he decided he was going to dance with the gold
rider and was rather aggressive about it."

Saibra frowned, her brow becoming a little more troubled. The words
"aggressive" and "Ma'din" seemed to go together fairly often. "And how
did she handle that?"

"I have a feeling he'll end up regretting it. But I didn't stay to
find out. I figured she was quite capable of handling it herself and
the party had lost its luster for me." He'd circled around to his own
side of the bed and began to undress. "I am a bit sorry for H'run
though. Poor guy seemed mortally embarrassed by his supposed friends."

R'enh pulled back the covers and rolled into the warmth of their
shared furs. "Ummm," he mused as he slid his arm over Saibra's
stomach. "Besides, I'd rather be here with you."

Saibra melded against her weyrmate's familiar warmth. "I'd rather you
be here, too."

The party and all it's details disappeared from thought once she was
in his arms and he proceeded to show her exactly how much he enjoyed
their time together.
