Drivel Like That

Kapera

Kapera

There was a sweet candlemark or so between the end of afternoon drills
and dinner in the Dining Cavern, where the light across the lake was
low but still bright and the lake itself was rippled with bathing
dragon wings. J'nus pulled the straps from Kopth's neck and hung them
neatly by the door to the weyr as his dragon took off to sun himself
on the rocks.

The bronzerider knocked softly before stepping inside. "Kapera?"

She was curled up under a light throw on the couch, with a glass of
something in one hand, what appeared to be a cheaply-bound book in
another. "J'nus! How's my favorite bronzerider?"

Hearing her say that never got old. J'nus went over to kiss her hello,
then sat next to her. "Glad drills are over for the day. It was a bit
of an off day for the Wing." He sighed. Better now than in
'Threadfall. "You look cozy."

"I'm curled up with warm tea and a very raunchy book," she said, grinning.

He lifted an eyebrow. "Oh? And?"

She set it down and leaned into his shoulder. "Yes, it's about a
dragonrider kidnapping a maiden to ravish her in a cave while his
dragon lies guard. A villainous brownrider, not a lecherous
bronzerider."

"A _cave_?!" J'nus snorted. "How dreary. If you're going to go through
all the effort of kidnapping a maiden, he could have at least put some
effort into the next steps. If it were a bronzerider, on the other
hand..."

"I suppose he chose a cave so he wouldn't be found out at the weyr? If
he was a smart bronzerider, wouldn't he choose an abandoned cothold?
At least with a _bed_?"

"A smart bronzerider would have brought a bed in beforehand. Some
candles, maybe some flowers and wine..."

"Into the _cave_? As though that would make kidnapping better?"

The bronzerider tipped his head theatrically to one side to look at
her. "Wait... kidnapping isn't romantic!?"

"A gentle maiden being spirited into a cave by a horrible ugly
brownrider isn't romantic at all!" But her eyes were crinkling and her
laughter was barely suppressed. "I can't tell if this is supposed to
be titillating because it takes away the maiden's impurity if she
doesn't pick it and if he makes her, or if this is actually something
holders believe might happen to their women and it's scare fodder."

"So the raunchy book is _research_." J'nus waggled his eyebrows at
her. "And I'll have you know, I give my wingriders leave all the time
to go ravish innocent Hold maidens."

"Only your wingriders? What about yourself?"

"I'm a bronzerider. I only ravish goldriders." Before she could move,
he slipped a hand around her neck and kissed her deeply.

She turned herself to be closer to him and tilted her head back,
letting him claim the control and her surrender. In most of her sex,
she wanted to be dominant and controlling. Or sometimes she'd let
herself be overwhelmed by the other, letting them take charge of her
body to heighten pleasure.. But nowhere did she let herself truly
surrender or give in. Not outside of Riyanth's flights, where she had
no choice. J'nus was the person she felt she could safely surrender
to, body and heart.

Reluctantly he let her go after a moment and touched his forehead to
hers. "I smell. I should have a bath. Want to join me?"

"Of course. I have to keep an eye on your virtue, or something."

He smiled at the 'or something'. "Probably wise. Otherwise I might
ravish a maiden on my way."

"And here I thought you said you _didn't_ ravish maidens. Not like
there are any in the weyr." She stood up and stretched and went to her
wardrobe to pull out something. "Do you want to use mine? I can shove
a chair under the door so D'hol can't get in."

"Remind me to bring a bolt for that door next time I'm here." J'nus
stood as well, but waited for Kapera before heading toward the bathing
chamber.

"I don't want to walk in on him and Timassa, they don't want to walk
in on us..." She grabbed the promised wooden chair and preceded him
into the bathing area to get started on blocking it off.

J'nus stripped off his sweaty leathers and left them in a heap on the
ground before settling into the bath. While awkward, having the
Weyrleaders share a bathing chamber made sense architecturally for the
Weyr. Barrier Lake was still new and growing, and as he sank into the
hot water he thought about the clever system of pipes that brought the
water here, instead of relying on it to bubble naturally through the
rock. "Did you bring that book? If you did, you should read it to me."

Kapera said, "I can," and walked back out to her weyr to shuck her
robe and get the book and bring in cool water in case they wanted it
during. She set two small towel and sweetsand by the pool side,
slipped in, and picked up the book.

"The horrible brown beast blocked the exit of the cave, and the short
man advanced towards Saribel, dropping his jacket and starting to
strip. "You're here to be tested for your candidate potential," he
said to her. Saribel couldn't believe it. "The Searchdragon - she said
-" But he shook his head. "The green said you might ride any dragon,
but there's a gold egg on the sands. Gold dragons need perfect women.
Bronze and brownriders, we can tell. So just disrobe so we can check
for any...imperfections." Saribel was hesitant as she watched him step
out his pants and shirt. He gestured impatiently at her. "Strip down.
Golds want girls who obey." Shivery and with a sick feeling this was
wrong, Saribel pulled her dress over his head and watched as he
advanced..."

She sat down the book and took a gulp of water, running her toes up
along J'nus' shins. "What do you think so far?"

"Terrible. Can I see it?" J'nus held his hand out for the book.

"Of course," Kapera said, handing it over. She stretched out in the
warm pool and let her toes brush along the side of his leg teasingly.
"I bet this wasn't what you expected when you stopped in."

"No, but I don't mind." He took the book and let it fall into the
pool. "Ooops. What a shame."

She yelped and grasped for it, pulling it out to toss to the side of
the pool. It was already watersogged. "Well, at least it was cheap.
Was it really so offensive?"

"Yes." J'nus took her hand and pulled her a little closer. "I'll find
you a better book. You have too few free candlemarks to spend them on
drivel like that."

She leaned in to kiss his lips gently. "So shall I wash your back then?"

He kissed her back. "If you're offering."

"I always am, for you. Unless there was another reason you wanted to
share the bath."

"Any amount of time in your company is what I want, whether or not you
wash my back." He slipped his arms around her. "How sturdy is that
chair under the door again?"

"Very," she assured him.

He smiled. They had a candlemark of uninterrupted time together, and
for a busy Weyrwoman and a Wingleader, a whole candlemark would always
be sweet.
