Kopth was sunning himself with Riyanth when J'nus knocked on Kapera's office door after drills were done, a couple of bottles in one hand and a package wrapped in plain muslin with an orange ribbon in the other. He let himself in, since Riyanth had already approved of his visit. "Hi. How were drills today?"
"Oh, drills were drills. I don't think the Healers should have released T'zoun back to us yet, his green just can't handle the flight even though we're less intense." She huffed a sigh and without prompting started pouring something out of the pitcher on the table into a second cup.
"Hmm." J'nus wondered if Kapera wanted to vent or to solve the problem, but to be on the safe side he decided to assume the former. "Have you had the chance to talk to T'zoun yet?"
“Letting Teseada do it, though I’m perhaps going to chew out the Healer who cleared him.” She shook her head. “I’m going to steal a good green or blue from you at some point to bolster the permanent core."
"No way. Steal someone from D'hol's Wing." J'nus smiled as he set down the bottles and held out the little package. "I even brought you a bribe to get you to look to his Wing first."
"But you have so many nice blueriders, can't I borrow just _one_ for some uses..." She blinked innocently, then took the package. Carefully she untied the ribbon and pulled open the wrapping, seeing a book fall out. "Oh?"
"I promised to get you a book after I wrecked the last one. I ended up getting you two."
She pushed the glass of juice aside and said, "Are these more novels of trash?" as she traced her finger over the title."Better-quality trash?"
"No guarantee, but rumor has it that the Lord of Ista hates 'A Dragon of My Own' so even if its trash, it's political trash." J'nus smiled again. "It was recommended by a Master Printer at the Harper Hall, so it should at least be entertaining."
“You went and spoke to a Master Printer about trashy books?”
"I only want the best for you, and who but a Master Printer would be able to share the finest smutty books fit for my goldrider?"
"You spoil me," she said with a grin. "Did you tell him it was for a lady friend, or did you tell him it was for a goldrider?"
He tapped his cheek. "I do spoil you. And I deserve a thank-you kiss. I even asked the Master Printer to send you catalogues of the new novels that are coming out. He was very helpful and not at all scandalized when he learned he was finding naughty novels for the Weyrwoman, much to my disappointment."
"I'm disappointed you didn't scandalize him more." She leaned over and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "A thank you for now. And then an IOU for later."
He smiled. "I'll hold you to it."
