K'mai often ate meals with his wingmates or close friends, but sometimes he spotted a person he hadn't talked to in a while and would head over for a chat. This morning his gaze fell on M'til and K'mai headed toward the table he was sitting at. Besides, K'mai had had a late night and a conversation with someone a bit quieter would be welcome.
"Hey M'til. Can I join you?"
M'til looked up from his own meal- he'd just started eating- and nods to the other. "Hello, K'mai " he greeted, courteously. "How fare you and Sebeth this day?" is added, willing to engage in conversation with the other rider.
}:Oh, do ask him if it's all right to invite Sebeth down to sun.:{ Quilienth put in hopefully.
"We're doing good." K'mai slid into the seat across from the other bluerider. "You and Quilienth are good?"
"We are." M'til affirmed. "Quilienth would like me to ask if he might invite Sebeth to sun with him?"
K'mai chuckled and his eyes unfocused as he relayed the message.
}:You can ask me yourself,:{ Sebeth told the other blue with light amusement. He got up from his ledge and stretched before making his way over to Quilienth.
K'mai took a bite and swallowed. "Anything new or interesting going on with you?"
}:Oh, but it is polite to ask first, in case you are busy!:{ Quilienth replied to Sebeth, even as he shifted over obligingly to make room, tucking his wings in closer as well.
"Not particularly." M'til responded, though a moment later, he added, "I was planning on washing Quilienth later. Would you like to do something?"
Sebeth shifted himself around to get comfortable, one eye turned toward Quilienth. }:You do not need to ask my rider though.:{ His tone was still amused. }:The sun is better up here.:{
"Sebeth just had a bath yesterday. Don't give him ideas!"
Quilienth ducked his head a little, mantled his wings a bit. ]: I just like to be polite. But I suppose-- Mine says it also polite to do the asking oneself, instead of giving the job to another.:{ he finished.
}: I will try to remember, Sebeth.:{ A brief pause. }:Yes. This is a very nice spot. You are welcome to join me, whenever you like-- if Mine does not need me.:{
"Sorry." M'til offered up, and took a bite of his own food. "Quil does like baths-- though I think it's partly because he likes swimming about a little, when he's done."
K'mai thought a moment as he finished another bite. "Are you a winter lake or summer lake person?"
"Winter Lake, certainly." M'til responded, easily. "I appreciate not having to freeze over, especially when it's the winter and Quil needs a washing. I think he minds the cold less than me. What about you?' he adds. "Winter, or Summer?"
"Winter Lake, absolutely. Dragonsfall is far too cold for all but a handful of days in the summer to go splashing around outside." K'mai wondered if he'd ever get used to it.
M'til nodded. "I'll agree with you there. Colder than between some days, feels like."
"Where are you from, originally? I don't think I asked you before." K'mai took a sip of klah.
M'til regarded K'mai with a slight head tilt and a glimmer of amusement. "As far as I know, I was born and raised here at Dragonsfall. Impressed here, too."
}:It is a fine place to be.:{ Quilienth agreed. }:And we have **two** Lakes! :{
"Ah. And you're still not used to the cold?" K'mai sighed dramatically. "I don't think there's any hope for me then."
"No, I don't imagine there is." M'til murmured. "The only thing for it is to wear a jacket on cold days."
A pause.
"Quilienth says if a bit of firestone is eaten, your dragon could start a fire for you-- but it wouldn't smell very good."
}: And it is important to keep our fire for when Thread rises, is it not? :{ Quilienth added, to M'til.
"That and I can't have poor Sebeth follow me everywhere." K'mai laughed. "Imagine turning my poor lifemate into my personal fireplace."
"They wouldn't even fit, down some of the tunnels." M'til agreed, straight faced. "You're correct though. It hardly seems like something befit their dignities. Not that poor Quilienth would try, if he thought it was needed."
K'mai took a sip of his klah. "Ah, enough about the cold! It's depressing. Let's talk about something else."
"Do you know if there will be a Gather near here, soon?" M'til obliged, more than willing to shift the topic. "I like when there are larger ones; there's always news from other places, and I know Quilienth likes getting to stretch his wings when there isn't imminent Thread."
"I can check with my sources." K'mai winked. "Does it need to be near here, though? Dragons can take us anywhere."
"I suppose you're right." M'til conceded, after a moment. "... I'll have to check with my Wingleader before we go, but first-- are you intending to suggest we attend a Gather? I'm not opposed..."
K'mai chuckled. "Yes. Although I might invite a few other people along, if you don't mind?"
"I don't mind." M'til assured. "Quilienth and I can help transport, if there's non-riders in the mix." He adds, and meant it. "Just let's finish our food first?"
"I didn't plan on leaving right this minute!" K'mai laughed. "We can eat, and then find out if any of the larger Holds are having a Gather."
“A solid plan.” M’til agreed. “We’ll have to save room for bubbly pies now though.”
