T'gyrlan

T'gyrlan

T’gyrlan had come to talk to E’kavas, only to hear from his niece that the man was still out, even though T’gyrlan knew for a fact that Azure drills had finished over a candlemark ago. A quick draconic relay confirmed that the brownrider was tied up with some ‘second duties and T’gyrlan settled down in the man’s quarter’s to wait. At least he had Kevia for company. That was just as well, because he’d been meaning to ask--

“I hear you’ve been trying to set me up, young lady."

Kevia reappeared from the weyrledge where she had been scratching Hanassath and not-so-sneakily asking the bronze when they were free next. "You're such a tattletale." She said crossly to the bronze, then cheerily to T'gyrlan, "I was just asking Hanassath when you were free. And then I was gonna be very loud about how Zariah likes going to the beach and she is also free, and you should ask her to go to the beach together. And I was going to try and talk someone in the kitchens into helping me pack a little picnic basket for you to take to the beach, because you should always bring snacks when out with a lady, but especially Zariah."

“Hanassath didn’t tattle. Zariah did. She said you had some scheme cooked up.” He hadn’t thought it’d be so easy to get it out of her though! Speaking of snacks, he pulled out some of the citron hard candies he’d brought and flicked one at her. “Since when were you such an expert on relationships?”

"Uh, _always_." Kevia said, even though this hadn't been an interest to her until recently. The citron candy smacked her in the chest. She caught it and popped it into her mouth. "I got a list of sweet treats that Zariah likes, too." She said around the candy, "It's going to be a nice picnic. If you need a blanket I was gonna steal them from Jevikas' bunk."

“You have this… very thoroughly planned,” T’gyrlan was impressed. Mildly alarmed, but impressed. “And what makes you so sure Zariah and I would be good together in the first place?”

"Why wouldn't you? Zariah's great." Kevia answered matter-of-factly. "You'll have lots more extra time now that Hanassath doesn't need so much care. You can go on outings like the beach or to Amber Hills…oh, take her to the Harper Hall for a play!"

T’gyrlan chuckled and shook his head. She thought she had it all worked out, huh? Life was so simple for children. “I actually have _less_ freetime now, Kevia. Hanassath and I have a lot of work to do to get back up to speed. It’s been keeping us very busy.” Of course, it was mostly his own pride and sense of responsibility that kept him on so tight a schedule, but he wasn’t about to explain that. He had a lot of make up for.

"So then you deserve a break." Kevia said with all the firmness of someone who was eight. "She should invite you to a Cyan party! But she's probably waiting for you to ask. You should invite her and then get G'zan to let you in." She wasn't entirely sure how these parties worked, but she assumed there was something cool like a password.

“Uh huuh…” T’gyrlan drawled, amusement tugging at the corners of his mouth. If nothing else, he would have to fill Zariah in about his little niece’s schemes. “Tell you what. Leave your brother’s blanket alone, but let me know when you can get that picnic basket.”

Kevia perked up, grinning. "On your next free afternoon." She repeated. "Zariah is also free for a picnic, so you can both go to the beach together. It'll be fun."

“Alright, you little busybody.”
