Please welcome Tsaera back! If you've been at Triad for a few years, you've seen Tsaera before! She will be temporarily filling the Weyrwoman's Second position due to Ashela's departure. There is no specific timeline in place for how long Tsaera will be with us, so take advantage of her being here while you can! :)

Saibra

Saibra

}:Tabanirth and her rider are here. You're not leaving the Hatching
Cavern, are you?:{ Chioneth asked, accusatorially.

Saibra made a face, since Chioneth couldn't physically see her at the
moment, and placed the jacket she had been getting ready to don back
onto its peg.

**Of course not, love. I'll have Tsaera meet with me here, if you'll
allow her to cross the Sands?**

Chioneth weighed which thing she disliked more, and finally settled on
allowing the retired Weyrwoman to enter the Hatching Cavern.

Tsaera bowed in greeting to Chioneth. She was a short, imposing woman
with iron-grey hair and broad shoulders, and she smiled when she saw
the eggs that were partially hidden behind the gold dragon's body. She
stepped across the Sands and headed unerringly to where Saibra waited
at the door to her temporary weyr. "Good to see you, Weyrwoman."

"It is good to see you, Tsaera. You look well, as usual." Saibra felt
like she towered over the older goldrider, and yet, she still found
herself feeling like a junior in Tsaera's seasoned presence. "Thank
you so much for coming."

"Of course. It was a good excuse to come see the new Weyr, and your gold egg."

"I had some refreshments arranged for us," Saibra said, leading the
way off the toasty sands and into the attached goldrider's weyr, where
the temperature was still warmer than usual, but felt nice as compared
to the chill outside.

Tsaera, meanwhile, looked briefly over her shoulder toward the warmth
of the Hatching Cavern before following Saibra into the weyr. "I
always thought that the Hatching Cavern weyr here was particularly
comfortable. Is Chioneth letting you leave much?"

"Not even a little bit. She's never been this way before, but then,
she's never laid a gold egg, either." Saibra gestured for Tsaera to
sit at the table where a steaming pitcher of klah waited along with
some fresh pastries.

Tsaera sat and reached for the klah to pour them both a mug.
"Tabanirth was like that too. I don't miss being tied to the Sands for
months while she broods." She passed a mug to Saibra and wrapped her
frozen fingers around the second mug, grateful for its warmth.
Dragonsfall Weyr, for all its charms, was frigid compared to the
tropical Weyrs she'd always called home. "What can I do for you,
Saibra?"

"With Ashela gone, Lanniya too young, and a gold egg on the Sands, I'm
in need of a Weyrwoman's Second. I don't have the time or inclination
to interview or train one currently. Would you consider coming down to
Dragonsfall for a few months to be my interim Second?" Saibra asked,
getting straight to the point.

Tsaera sipped her klah as she studied Saibra. Her request wasn't a
surprise - it was obvious that Ashela's departure had left Saibra in a
difficult position. Ashela had always put her own desires above the
good of the Weyr and Tsaera hoped for Windswept Isle's sake that she
wouldn't eventually step into Weyrwoman Udari's place.

But leading a Wing again, even temporarily... that was a wicked
temptation. She and Tabanirth had retired when Tabanrith had stopped
rising, almost three Turns earlier. Before then, she had led River
Bluff Weyr as Weyrwoman since before the Pass had begun. They'd left
their home to ease the transition to a new Weywoman, to remove the
temptation to refuse to step aside. It had been hard to let go. "There
are a lot of River Bluff riders here," she said slowly. "I haven't
seen many of them in Turns. Do you think that will cause an issue?"

"Our Weyrleader and Weyrsecond are both formerly of River Bluff. Have
there been some comments made about that? Yes. Will your arrival
probably add fuel to the fire? Yes, but I need a strong 'second more
than I care about the rumors it will cause. Dragonsfall became a haven
for many displaced River Bluff riders, that is a part of our identity
now. I think everyone would rest much easier knowing an experienced
former Weyrwoman is leading the Queen's Wing while Chioneth and I are
grounded."

"How do you find I'serin as a Weyrleader?" Tsaera asked.

"He's green," Saibra admitted. "I expected some of that, since it's
his first time catching a senior gold. What I didn't expect was his
lack of command or confidence. Most bronzeriders his age are full of
it. We're working well together, though. He's very serious about his
position and isn't afraid to work hard."

"Mmm. He always struck me as a bit in A'len's shadow," Tsaera said.
"It's a shame that M'kayre and Bhelth didn't win Chioneth's flight,
but then again you probably wouldn't have a gold Egg on your Sands."
She set down her mug. Saibra had been put in a difficult position, and
Tsaera already decided on her answer before she and Tabanirth had gone
/between/. "I'll lead your Wing, Saibra, but only if you make sure
that whatever weyr you stick me in has its own hot pool. Or bath tub,
I keep forgetting that you have proper hot water plumbing here."

"Ashela's former quarters have a nice bathing pool that I think you
will approve of," Saibra assured Tsaera. "Do I need to send along any
senior Weyrlings to help move, lift, or unpack anything?"

"If you could send me a weyrling or two to carry my things." Tsaera
grinned. "And I like the sound of that bathing pool. Honestly, I
debated stepping in at all here because of the weather. My Weyrhold
was tropical and I'm too old for snow."

"I empathize completely. I'm originally from Far Island. We have a
pretty good heating system here, that's kept running by the
technicians, along with heated water, so I hope you'll find it
bearable." Saibra snapped her fingers. "Oh, and, consider this an
excuse for a new wardrobe. We'll have you outfitted in Dragonsfall
green and brown in no time."

"Ha! We'll see about that." Although a new fur-lined riding jacket
lined was _definitely_ going to be a necessity.
