Description: Lyndana Impresses Veralinth… much to her dismay
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 3, day 22 of Turn 12

}:Lyndana! I swear, if I have to call your name _one_more_time_,:{ a
jade green dragon was gritting out as she did her best to ‘stomp’
across the Sands toward her errant lifemate. }:I am Veralinth and
_you_ are _mine_. Now… let’s go, I am famished. Posthaste!:{

The voice in her head sounded a lot like hers, only sharper, and it came with a wave of hunger that was almost as nauseating as the realization of what was happening. Despite the heat of the sands under her feet, Lyndana suddenly felt cold. She could sense that whatever was trying to get her attention was approaching from her side, but she didn’t turn, clinging to a foolish hope that if she just ignored it, it would pass her by.

She’d been so fixated on the gold egg, eager to catch the first twitch, that she hadn’t even noticed the green hatching, had just assumed one of her fellow Candidates had been saying her name and had been ignoring them because nothing but that gold egg mattered. Even now, she didn’t turn to look down until the jade green hide filled her peripheral vision.

}:Come come. I didn’t hatch quickly to be late for dinner.:{ The voice was imperious, demanding, everything Lyndana had expected from her dragon. Except, as she finally turned her gaze to the hatchling, the color was so very wrong.

Horror and fear and intense, possessive love swirled through Lyndana in a maelstrom of mixed feelings as she looked over the pretty little jade green dragon. She was delicate but well-proportioned, and moving with purpose as she put her head down and headbutted Lyndana, knocking her a step in the direction of where the food for the new dragons waited.

}:Come on. People are _staring_,:{ the green said again, and started to walk past her reluctant rider.

Doing her best to gather her scattered wits, Lyndana started walking, rushing a few steps to make it look like she was leading the green instead of being led by.

**I don’t want you. Pick one of the other girls. I would be a _terrible_ greenrider,** she tried desperately, futilely. She didn’t even sound sincere to herself. The only thing worse than Impressing Veralinth would be losing her now that she’d found her.

Her dragon snorted at her, a cute little audible sneeze-like sound, and a much more disdainful mental one, }:Oh hush. We’ll be magnificent,:{ the fierce affection in that voice did much to melt through the icy terror around Lyndana’s heart.

Still… she slowed, trying to look over her shoulder back towards the gold egg again. It still hadn’t cracked, she couldn’t tell if it was even moving from here. Maybe there was something wrong with it. Maybe-

}:Stop that,:{ Veralinth snapped her tail as she proceeded to march ahead of her rider again, }:You don’t want her. You’re _mine_.:{ That fierce wave of love swept Lyndana up, and with it came the gnawing hunger. Her feet moving again without conscious thought, Lyndana started rushing off the sands, eyeing the little dragon and trying to decide if they would move faster if she picked her up. If she even could pick her up. }:Oh no,:{ Veralinth gave a little hop to get ahead of her rider again, }:I can walk just fine. Don’t you embarrass us by trying to pick me up and dropping me!:{
