Location: Dragonsfall Weyr

When Diara came back to her bed after her morning shower, an
unfamiliar bracelet was sitting on her pillow. She gave a frustrated
sigh and, hands on her hips, looked at her blue firelizard, who was
perched on the bed feeling very proud of himself.
**This isn’t yours. Where did you get it from?** She picked it up,
wondering who it belonged to. It was delicate and, while she knew
little about jewelry making, seemed to be well-made.
Annoyed that his human was not showering him with praise, Zori ignored
her question.
Knowing Zori was most interested in taking items from newly arrived
Candidates gave Diara a pretty good guess as to who this belonged to.
So, she made her way to a young woman who she had seen around the Weyr
before her recent arrival in the barracks.
“Morning Nosarre. Does this happen to be yours?” Diara held up the bracelet.
"There it is." Nosarre said. She had been rummaging through her
storage chest, half expecting the bracelet to fall out of a piece of
clothing, despite never being in the habit of packing so haphazardly.
Her own bronze firelizard was nestled in the center of a perfectly
made bunk, watching Diara as she approached.
Nosarre took the bracelet and slipped it on. "Wherever did you find it?"
“_He_ found it,” Diara replied, gesturing towards her blue. Zori was
on her shoulder and, while he was not happy that his gift to his human
was rejected, at least he was not being a nuisance. That was an
improvement from several months prior. “Sorry about that. It’s pretty.
Did you make it?”
"I did." Nosarre said casually. She glanced between the girl and her
firelizard. "Your firelizard needs to be better trained than that
while you're living in a barracks. It won't do to have other people's
things keep showing up around you."
Diara felt a spike of irritation at the criticism. She did not need
someone else telling her to train her own firelizard. “He’s getting
better,” she said, defensively. “He’s still young.”
"That's the best time to teach them. You know what they say about
teaching old canines new tricks." Nosarre said. "And giving into his
bad habits will only make him worse as he gets older."
Diara felt a sudden urge to teach Zori to just steal from particular
people. “It won’t happen again,” she promised, with false confidence.
In reality, if it did happen again, she would keep the stupid
bracelet. “So,” she changed the subject, “you’re back in the
barracks…”
"At T'lonas' insistence." Nosarre said with a roll of her eyes. "Like
we're some holdbrat kids that don't know how a Weyr works. I've
brought some of my things from my quarters, at least. He said I had to
stay here, he didn't say I couldn't bring my nice bedding."
“I’m sure either of us could teach all the classes at this point,”
Diara agreed. “You know how they are when there are eggs on the Sands
though, and especially with there being a gold egg this time.”
"The dragons start humming with plenty of time." Nosarre said
dismissively. "I can make do with a month or so, anyway. It's not like
anyone is moving into my room while we wait. A small price to pay for
the gold egg."
Diara wondered if Impressing a gold would make her even more
insufferable. Was that even possible? Rather than speaking her
thoughts out loud she just made a noncommittal noise. “Well, good luck
with that. And, see you in class.” She needed to finish getting ready.
"Unfortunately." Nosarre said with a roll of her eyes. "And be mindful
of that blue."
