"Well!" Z'renh smiled and pulled himself up to a seated position as
Kamalia came in to visit him. He winced, but only a bit as he shifted
positions. "How have you been since I saw you last?"

"Looks like I've had better luck than you," the greenrider said,
returning the smile. "Here, I brought some treats. I wasn't sure what
you liked, so," she gestured to the plate with a variety of small
desserts, "I got one or two of everything." She set it on the table
next to his bed and took a seat.

"Ooh!" Z'renh eagerly grabbed a couple of treats from the tray. "Thank
you. I should get near-mortally wounded more often."

"I can think of far better ways to eat dessert and visit with
friends," Kamalia quipped, taking a small tart for herself. Then, more
seriously, "How are you doing?"

"Oh, they're letting me out tomorrow," groaned Z'renh. "But I'm on
light duty for _at least_ two weeks, maybe as many as _six_, can you
believe it? They say I can't lift more than twenty pounds!" They were
going to be so far behind. "But we'll catch up. We have to."

"That's great! I'm sure you'll have plenty of help. Actually, I owe
you for washing Alaudath back when I couldn't." He had been one of the
Candidates assigned to help when she and her green were 'Scored. At a
comment from her green, she smiled. "Alaudath is wondering if she's
bigger than your bronze."

"They might actually be just about the same size now, but if she _is_
still bigger, Adamanth is going to be offended about it." Somehow,
Z'renh was able to smile more genuinely about his dragon's personality
than he ever had been before.

"Well, she would be delighted. You know, she's one of the smallest
greens, so almost all the dragons are bigger than her. I'm sure she'd
be happy to give him lots of compliments, to make him feel better. You
know, she has a thing for bronzes." And Kamalia couldn't help but be
drawn to bronzeriders.

"I'm not really fully sure what Adamanth has a thing for yet," said
Z'renh. "But I sure hope this stint of 'light duty' is over soon,
regardless. For more reasons than just keeping up with classes." He
grinned at Kamalia.

She grinned right back, then paused trying to do some mental math.
"Isn't Adamanth a little young for conversations about certain
things?" She didn't want to lead to the young bronze getting anxious,
especially with his rider in the infirmary.

"He doesn't have much of a history of listening to me when we're not
in the same room... or when we are," said Z'renh. "But you're right. I
shouldn't get too frisky just yet."

"Before you know it, you'll be going /between/ and then flying in a
Wing," she said encouragingly. "Have you decided where you're going to
go once you're free to go /between/ unsupervised? I remember that
being exciting to talk about when I was a weyrling."

"Faranth, anywhere warm, preferably somewhere with a beach," said
Z'renh. He had dreamed of returning to Dolphin Cove to show all of his
old friends that he had finally Impressed bronze, but that somehow
felt less appealing now. "Wanna come?"

"Sure," she replied easily. While there was something going on with
J'nne, he was at another Weyr and they certainly weren't exclusive. "I
can show you a few places. There's one with a waterfall. Or, there are
some small islands."

"That sounds wonderful." Z'renh closed his eyes and imagined himself
in such a tropical paradise. Maybe even building himself a little weyr
away from Weyr there. "Let's see them all."

"It's a date."
