Teigan

Teigan

It took time to get back to her weyr after the flight. Thiseta's walk had been interrupted with congratulations, conversations and detours enough so that her hair was very nearly dry again by the time she stood before her own door, her heart a jumbled mix of emotions. The new Weyrwoman knocked softly before stepping inside. "Teigan?" In all likelihood her weyrmate was still in the Infirmary, but she desperately hoped that he was in.

Teigan was in, alright. He'd made sure to finish up his caseload in the infirmary before cleaning up and heading to his and Thiseta's weyr. He knew from her previous flights roughly how long things normally took, but he wanted to be there before she arrived - to set up. "In here," he called from their modest dining area. The Master Healer stood by the table, where a fresh bouquet of flowers was gracing one of Thiseta's best vases. In each hand he held a glass of wine.

"A toast for the new Weyrwoman?" There was nothing but pride in his eyes.

The Weyrwoman crossed the room and melted into his arms. It felt like coming home. "I can't believe it happened," she murmured into his tunic. "I can't believe it."

He somehow managed to hold her without spilling the wine. “Me either. If someone had told me a few turns ago that I would be weyrmated to a Weyrwoman, I would have laughed.”

"So would I," she admitted. Reluctantly she pulled away and sat before her legs could give out on her. The restless night and adrenaline-fuelled morning was catching up on her. "I'd hoped... I know that when we decided to transfer here it was a possibility, and that we talked about it... but a part of me didn't expect it to work out. I-- I'm going to be Weyrwoman." She took a breath. "I _am_ Weyrwoman."

"You _are_," he agreed, nudging the wine glass into her hand as he sat beside her. "All that you have worked for has come to fruition."

Her attention drifted to the crinkles at the corners of his brown eyes and the strong curve of his jaw. Heat sparked low in her belly. "All I did was show up. Cheers." The new Weyrwoman clinked her glass against Teigan's. The wine was dry and fruity, tasting of summer fruit and earth-- how she liked it. She hummed in appreciation.

"Just 'show up'? I don't think so. You could have given up back at Windswept, but you didn't. You got healthy, you kept working, you made the decision to move here. That was all _you_, my love, doing a lot more than showing up." Teigan took a sip of his wine.

"Don't tell anyone, but I had a lot of help. There's this handsome healer I know..."

Her weyrmate's eyebrows lifted, his brown eyes warming. "Oh? Tell me about this handsome healer."

"Mmm hmm." She set her wine glass aside and slipped her arms around his waist. "He's very tall, and very smart, and kind, and he has an incredible ass."

"Oh, I think I've met him before," Teigan said, his arms wrapping around her. Brushing her hair out of his way, Teigan pressed a kiss to her upturned face.

She kissed him back, hungry for his touch. His hands were hot on her skin as she melted into him. "And? Do you agree with my assessment?"

"I might need to be convinced," he said against her lips.

Theiseta pulled back in shock. "Have you _seen_ that ass? What is there to be convinced about? It's round and firm--" she gave it a squeeze, "and has a mathematically perfect curve."

This earned her a laugh from the healer. "Okay, I'm convinced, since you brought mathematics into the equation."

"I spoke to a Smith about it once and she agreed with me." The Weyrwoman took a step toward their bedroom, tugging Teigan after her. "She can't have you, though. You're mine."

"I'm not going to break the mood but later we're going to talk about if you really discuss my rear with other people." Teigan chuckled huskily before he scooped Thiseta up and pulled her thighs around his waist. "I like shapes myself," he said, his hands cupping her own shapely backside as he carried her to their bed.

She tangled her hands in his hair and kissed him, suddenly deleriously lost in his taste and the euphoria of earlier that day. "Mmm. We can talk about shapes, but _I_ can talk about your rear as much as I want to. I'm the Weyrwoman."

"As you say, _Weyrwoman_." He purred her new title against her neck.

She smiled, satisfaction curling though her as warm as sunshine. She was Weyrwoman, and Barrier Lake was hers.
