"Saibra!" R'enh shouted as he strode into her office. Fury suffused him, and his normally blue eyes seemed almost black. He couldn't believe that she'd gone to that hold without an escort. "You went to that sharding hold without an escort? Are you wishing for death?"
"R'enh, I nearly kicked my own son out of the Weyr ten minutes ago. I'm not in the mood." She snapped, slamming her top desk drawer shut.
"Neither am I," he stomped toward her desk. "Seems that your son and his dragon have taken themselves off to Barrier Lake," he flung one arm in the air in disgust. "Did you even think of asking me to come with you to Shadow Mountain?"
"No, because it was a quick errand and you had Wing business." At his approach, she jumped to her feet to avoid having to look up at him from her chair.
"Alright," he said. "You could have taken another bronzerider. Even a Brownrider or a young one." His heat was up and threatening to boil over. "Did you stay on or next to Chioneth or did you go inside the Hold?"
Saibra's chin lifted. "I stayed near Chioneth until a servant came out to greet me. Everything seemed completely normal, so then I went into the hold proper." The Weyrwoman knew, without a doubt, that she should have taken an escort, but stubbornness kept her from admitting it.
"So, in other words, no you didn't." He reached out and grabbed her around the waist and then tossed her over his shoulder like a sack of firestone. "So, any man could have grabbed you like this and Chioneth would not have been able to get to you. Right?" he smacked her bottom.
There was a rumbling snarl from the direction of Chioneth's weyrcouch. }:You will tell your rider to unhand mine, _immediately_.:{ She glowered at Mnoranth.
}:No!:{ Mnoranth responded with his own snarl. }:Yours endangered your life by going inside the Hold where you could not protect her. What would you have done if a male who didn't love her grabbed and ended her? Snarl then go /between/ where we could never find you?:{
}:Now.:{ Chioneth repeated with authority. }:Don't presume to lecture me.:{
"Make Chioneth back off Mnoranth now or I really will spank you Saibra," R'enh said conversationally. "What's she going to do? Threaten not to choose him in her next flight? We both know how that's gone so far."
Tears were coursing down Saibra's cheeks by this point -- tears of laughter. "Did you hear her tone?" she gasped around a wheezing laugh, since her rubs were pressed against R’enh’s hard shoulder.
**Calm down, my love. He is only proving a point,** Saibra coaxed her lifemate.
Chioneth's eyes remained red. She hissed at Mnoranth and then launched off the ledge to fly across the Weyr to find somewhere else to lounge.
"Oh, she's mad mad," Saibra giggled. "You know, while I'm here," she said, still hanging over R'enh's shoulder. She used one of her dangling hands to pat his rear.
R'enh smiled and patted her, too. "I can't hear her, but I heard Mnoranth's answers, and they weren't happy. I can live with her mad mad as long as you're both safe," he added as he walked toward the door to their quarters. Bed or pool," he asked.
"Bed first, pool second," she answered. Once she was back on her feet again, she placed both hands on her weyrmate's chest and looked up at him. "I _am_ sorry, R'enh. I would have worried about you, too, if our positions were reversed. I'll drag an escort along next time. It's not
like N'kyri has anything better to do."
He kissed her gently. "Thank you," he said and began to undress her.
"You're so.. _sexy_ when you're angry, though," she said, unbuttoning his shirt.
He just grinned and shook his head. "I hope that is only to you; otherwise, my wing might not behave."
The Weyrwoman laughed, feeling the remaining tension between them over the argument fade. "It's a good thing you aren't _my_ Wingleader, then. I would have a very hard time keeping my thoughts straight while you were giving orders." She nipped at his earlobe with her teeth.
He chuckled as he tightened his arms and pulled her down with him to their furs. "A very good thing," he grinned.
