Teigan

Teigan

Thiseta sat with her feet curled beneath her and a half-knitted sock abandoned in her lap. She was on her second glass of wine and it was making her contemplative. Right now she was contemplating the far wall of their weyr. "Do you ever find yourself missing our weyr at Windsept Isles?"

Teigan considered the question. He wasn't sure if he missed their _weyr_ as much as he missed the entire Weyr. The island weather had been wonderful compared to the somewhat drearier weather of Barrier Lake. "It was a cozy weyr," he admitted.

"It was." She chewed her lip and tried not to look toward the entranceway. The echoes of the violence that befell Kapera lingered. "I am thinking about redecorating. This is home for us now, and I want it to feel like... us."

Her weyrmate folded the corner of the page he was reading and closed his book. This sounded like a conversation that would require his attention. Tucking the tome underneath his arm, Teigan glanced around the weyr. "What were you thinking?"

"I'm not sure. Maybe some new furniture. This is a bit heavy for my taste," Thiseta said, patting the rejected couch with one hand. "And maybe moving the couch to where the chairs are. And a new chandelier over the dining table. Remember that lovely glass one in the Weyrwoman Second's quarters at Windswept? Were you ever in there?"

"No," he shook his head. "But I'm sure we could approach the smithcraft and see what their glasscrafters could do." Teigan considered the couch. He supposed it was 'heavy' as Thiseta put it, but he thought it quite comfortable. "Are you thinking you want a more minimal touch with the furniture?"

She pursed her lips as she thought. "Not _less_ furniture. But this couch... the fabric is dark and the legs are heavy. And I've been thinking... I think I want a miniature greenhouse by the windows for my plants. It's so much colder here and I think that they're dying because of the drafts."

**A miniature greenhouse. More plants to be murdered,** Teigan thought, but outwardly he nodded. "A little window of plants sounds nice." Who would care for them while he was busy in the Infirmary and she with her Weyrwoman duties? This was a concern he didn't voice. "What about in the bedroom?" he asked.

"Do you think we should redo the bedroom too?" She nibbled her lip. "I wouldn't be opposed to it... I hadn't really thought about it though."

"I think a bed not picked out by Kapera and J'nus would be... nice." He found _that_ to be the weirdest thing about inhabiting this particular weyr.

She grimaced. "When you say it like that... perhaps we can move that request up the list a bit. I'm sure that we can find someone in the Crafter's village to take care of it for us."

"While we're commissioning things, I think a boudoir painting of you for our bedroom wouldn't hurt," he raised his eyebrows suggestively at his weyrmate.

"Teigan!" Thiseta laughed. "Have you been talking to N'kevyn? Because Aydhan was telling me all about their bedroom decor the other day..."

"I've never even met the man," Teigan laughed. What business would he have with a bronzerider? "Although, it might be something all men enjoy who are weyrmated to beautiful women."

Thiseta conceded the point. "I'll consider it," she said magnanimously, "But on the condition that I get to commission and display a painting of _you_."

The healer seemed to consider that for a moment. "I would suggest we have one made of the two of us, but I'm afraid I might not be able to behave myself and then scandalize some poor harper-artist."

"If they're Weyr-trained, then they are already fully scandalized and there's nothing that we could do together that could possibly make it worse." She paused, considering. "Unless you have ideas...?"

This was what he loved about Thiseta. With his first wife, holdbred, he'd had to reign in the parts of him that he'd inherited growing up at the Weyr. With the beautiful woman who sat across from him, Teigan had no such need.

"Oh, I have ideas. Only, I'm not sure I'd ever be able to look the harper in question in the eye ever again."

Her grin was wicked. "You don't need to look the harper in the _eye_, my love..."
