}: How does a beach sound? :{ Liranth asked Torth, even as she was shuffling her wings against the dreary cold.

}:K'far is eager to go somewhere warm,:{ said Torth. }:And I would enjoy sharing the sun with you.:{

}: It's been so dreary with all of this rain, :{ Liranth remarked sourly. }: It's decided then. :{

"What's decided?" Vaile asked absently, being clued into the conversation.

}: We're going to the beach. Torth's rider agrees. Get ready. :{

Thinking of the beach she had gone to with Harki and Zariah a few sevendays previously, Vaile thought it was a good idea. She hurriedly grabbed what she needed for a day away. "Can K'far grab picnic things?" she asked Liranth to pass along.

}:He would be delighted.:{

K'far needed no convincing. He grabbed a little of everything he thought they would need for lunch and beach fun and loaded it up on Torth.

}: Come on! :{ Liranth called playfully at Torth. She was circling in the sky, waiting, before passing along the image of where they were going. She disappeared a moment later, reappearing over their destination, doing aerials in the warm sky while she waited on Torth to arrive.

Torth appeared a few moments later, doing his best to mimic her.

**You're gonna make me puke; knock it off,** K'far complained. The two dragons continued anyway.

Eventually, Liranth peeled off for landing. "Oh, this is so much better than being shut in the freezing Weyr!" Vaile immediately called as she unbuckled.

"We should build a little Weyrhold down here for the winter months," K'far chuckled. "We can be anywhere in an instant. Might as well have someplace warm to come back to after freezing our toes off in 'Fall."

"Oh, that's a great idea!" Vaile agreed. "Or, maybe we could rent a space from one of the seaholds. Offer our services for a few days in return for a place." It had been far easier to do that during the Interval when there wasn't Thread. "Just anything to be warm for a bit."

"I'll have to pitch the idea to Saibra next time we walk." K'far chuckled. If only it were feasible... "Or maybe we'll just have to make a place of our own."

Something about that warmed her heart unexpectedly. Something she hadn't felt since M'vel. That scared her a little, still, but more of her liked the idea than not. "A place of our own? I wonder..." she said, aiming for teasing but then suddenly feeling nervous about what she was suggesting. But honestly, would it be so bad, building a place of their own, with K'far?

Liranth abruptly butted her head against Vaile's hip, knocking her out of her thoughts.

"I promise, I would pick up my own dirty dishes and clothes." K'far held up his hand as though he were taking a solemn vow.

Vaile laughed. "I promise not to hog the furs," she added, almost jokingly but knowing that she had a bad habit of that.

"That's all right if you do." K'far grinned. "I sleep hot anyway." It was somewhat true... but it was too cold at Dragonsfall for it to be the whole truth. He could always keep the stove burning hot if it came down to it.

"You have a dragon's metabolism then?" she joked. She began spreading out their blankets and fare after unstrapping Liranth. The green dragon immediately made her way for the water.

"Oh, I eat far more often than that," K'far laughed. As he helped unload and spread out their things, Torth followed Liranth to the sea.

"That was a jab at dragons always being warm because they sun and fly," Vaile said as she poked him in the ribs playfully. Once everything was spread out, Vaile slid out of her clothes, revealing a simple two piece swimsuit. But she didn't go to the water just yet. She flopped on her back, letting the sunlight touch every inch of her skin. "Oh, that is _sooo_ much better," she sighed.

Yes, it was. The woman was so beautiful. K'far smiled and followed suit, not wanting to seem as though he were ogling her like a creep.

"Every time I come up here to the shore, I wonder why I don't do it more often."

"Or just put in a transfer to Dolphin Cove," Vaile said. But the instant she said it, she shook her head. "As much as I'm complaining about the cold, Dragonsfall is _home_. I couldn't imagine uprooting my life and the kids to go somewhere else."

"I wouldn't leave if I could," K'far chuckled. Especially not without Vaile. But he had a duty to Saibra, too.

"There is something nice about curling up with lots of thick blankets in bed on a restday morning," Vaile pointed out. "Speaking of, did you want to go somewhere new next restday? I know we've been trying to explore more of Pern on those days." And she liked that.

"It's been something I've looked forward to every week," said K'far. "Did you have someplace in mind, or is it my turn to pick?"

"Your turn."

"There's plenty of islands to explore. I bet we can find one we haven't been to yet without too much trouble."

"Oh, that's an idea. Maybe one with some cliffs we can scale. Not big cliffs, starter cliffs. I don't want to fall too far into the water."

"Agreed!" K'far chuckled. He was not the worst rock climber, but he had little experience with slippery sea cliffs. "Preferably with a nice little meadow on top so we have someplace comfortable to rest after I have to climb the same rock face five times to make it to the top."

"It sounds like we have our next restday picked out, and maybe the next one as well," Vaile said with a smile. She looked over at K'far again. "I'm...glad we're doing this," she said, though her words expanded to cover more than just the current moment.

}: Yours makes mine happy, :{ Liranth said to Torth as she rested her head on the brown's back as they bobbed on the waves together.

}:Yours makes K'far happy, too,:{ said Torth. }:There has never been one for him like her before.:{

"There's no one I'd rather be doing it with." K'far kissed her lips.

She let out a soft sigh of contentment. "Me too."
