K'mai

K'mai

K'mai knocked on his fellow bluerider's door, a plate of treats carried in one hand.

M'til had actually gone back to his weyr, albeit temporarily, to get a change of clothes and to pack a bag so he could stay overnight with Quilienth again; he looked up at the knock, set aside the shirt he'd been folding. "... Enter!" He called.

"M'til!" K'mai called as he opened the door. "I heard about you and Quilienth. How is he? I brought you a little something to cheer you up."

M'til gave him a thankful nod, rose back to his feet. "He's... He's alive, thank Faranth. And the Dragonhealers say he'll fly again. But... we're grounded until he does." He responded. "I just came back to get some things while he's asleep, but... But you're welcome to stay. I just... might need to go. If he does wake up."

The bluerider himself didn't look like he'd slept much, or paid more than cursory attention to his appearance.

"Hey, hey." K'mai balanced the tray as he went over and patted M'til's shoulder. "Why don't you sit for a minute and if Quilienth does wake up, I'll help you bring your things, okay?"

M'til sighed, but heeded him, not quite dropping down into the closest chair. "... Okay." He murmured. "Just for a little bit."

A pause.

"...Thank you." he told K'mai. "I don't like leaving him alone. Not while he's injured. He'll fret even more."

"He's not alone, he's got healers taking care of him, and you'll rush down there the moment he wakes, right?" K'mai said. "I'm sure you can take a _few_ minutes to have a treat. Bolster your reserves so you have more energy to take care of him."

M'til made a sound that wasn't quite a laugh. But his posture eased, just slightly. "... I suppose you're right." He conceded. "I'll be no good to anyone if I pass out."

"That's the spirit," K'mai teased. He held the plate out to M'til.

M'til managed something that looked almost like a smile, then took a sweetroll. "Thank you." He offered. "I _do_ like these. You went to the trouble of bringing them. Have some too?"

"I won't say no to that." K'mai eagerly grabbed a sweetroll and took a bite. After swallowing, he said, "It's always harder when they're hurt, isn't it? Much easier to brush off our own injuries."

M'til nodded, and let out another tired sigh, settled back into his chair and rubbed at his face. "Would you believe Quil and I haven't been hurt _once_ before?" He responded. "Maybe that's why I... lost my head a little bit. Nothing, for Turns. And then this."

"You've been very lucky. The first time was rough for us, too." K'mai became keenly aware of the scars on his back.

"... I have been, haven't I?" M'til noted. "And here I am, acting like a headless wherry."

He took a deep breath, in and then out again. "... I'm fine, and Quilienth is _going_ to be fine." He said, and then lifted his sweetroll toward K'mai in a sort of salute. "... To _not_ acting like a wherry in crisis."

K'mai chuckled and held up his own sweetroll. "I'll eat to that."

M'til nodded, and took a bite. And then he realized he actually _was_ hungry and took several more bites in rapid succession before making himself pause.

"How are... you doing?" He asked. "Is the Wing doing all right? Quilienth’s going to be out for a _while_."

"The Wing will be fine, don't worry," K'mai said. "And as for me, life is good." He grinned before taking a bite.

"Yeah?" M'til responded, raised a brow. "That's good."

"Ah, you want the good gossip." K'mai wiggled his eyebrows. He tried hard not to think about that kiss in the flight room. I'serin had forgiven him. It was fine. K'mai was dying to see him again. "Did you hear about me spending the night with a goldrider and a bronzerider?"

M'til eyed him, half amused. "No, I _didn't_." He responded with a snort. "But I'm impressed. Both of them, hm?"

"Mmm-hmm," K'mai said with a smug smile. "They were weyrmates looking for some fun, and I very happily provided. He was just as into me as she was, and we all had a _very_ good time."

M'til managed a small grin, ate another bite of sweetroll. "Good for you." He said, and meant it. "Maybe while Quilienth is down, I'll have more time for... other things. I'll have to see. He doesn't like if I'm gone from sight too long." He shrugged.

"I have time!" K'mai said a little too quickly. He was desperate for any distraction while he waited for the agreed-on day he could see I'serin again. "I mean, I'd be happy to spend time with you if you're looking for company. We could even stay close to Quilienth." He winked.

"Of course." M'til responded, willing enough. "As long-- yes, as long as we stay close to Quilienth." He paused. "I... no. I wouldn't mind company."

"You get your bag, I'll bring the food." K'mai stuffed the last of his sweetroll in his mouth and picked up the plate. Whether M'til wanted a romp or just to talk, at least it would keep K'mai occupied.

M'til nodded and stood up, shouldering his bag once more.
