Teigan

Teigan

Thiseta stretched luxuriously and revelled in the feel of the sheets and the heat from Teigan's back. It was candlemarks past when she usually rose, but sore feet and a slight headache from a too-late night with too much wine had kept her in bed. That, and finally being back with her weyrmate in her own weyr.

The Hatching Feast had gone well. No one had died. No one had been waiting in their pitch-black weyr with a knife in hand and murder in mind. Imbeth was safe and curled with Tzenketh on Q'vettan's ledge. There were weyrlings in the Weyrling Barracks again.

The Weyrwoman rolled over to kiss Teigan's shoulder. "I'm going to get up. I think I heard someone come in earlier with klah and possibly breakfast."

Thiseta's words made Teigan's eyes fly open. When they'd come in the night before, they hadn't even bothered unshuttering glow baskets or turning on lights. They'd simply collapsed into their bed, completely missing the new wallpaper that Teigan installed during Thiseta's absence. It was exactly as he had remembered it when visiting the Printer Hall and he was _sure_ she was going to _love it_. He didn't want to miss her reaction.

"Wait," he rolled over and put a staying hand on her hip. "There's a surprise out there. If you close your eyes, I'll take you out so you can see it."

"A surprise?" She grinned. She loved surprises. "You shouldn't have!"

Rolling out of bed, Teigan slid on a pair of linen shorts and then came around to Thiseta's side. "Here we go," he said, taking her hands and guiding her out of their bed. "Keep those eyes closed," he said again, excitement filling his gruff voice. Carefully, the healer led her out into their main living area. Taking a deep breath, he stepped back. "Okay, you can open them!"

Thiseta opened her eyes to green. Acidic, dizzying, noisy greens in a cacophony of shapes and hues. A frenzied jungle had leapt from a particularly vivid nightmare onto her sitting room walls. Her actual plants looked pathetic and yellowed where they huddled next to the small window to Imebth's couch. She blinked. "Oh my."

"Yeah?" Teigan said brightly, smiling. "You like it?"

"It's..." He looked so happy and so proud of himself that Thiseta found herself saying, "It's so thoughtful! Thank you!"

"It really brightens up the room, doesn't it?" The healer wrapped an arm around Thiseta's shoulders and hugged her to his side as he surveyed the new wallpaper.

"It certainly does." Thiseta turned to bury her face in Teigan's warm shoulder, mostly so she could give her poor eyes a small break. "Thank you so much for doing this. I'd wondered why you'd asked for transportation for a bunch of Printers. I'd meant to bring it up to you but then I forgot."

"Journeyman Wyndall was an invaluable resource. He had an entire book of wallpaper samples for me to look at but I knew, when I saw this one, I knew it was right." Teigan glanced around. "Just imagine the impression it will make on our visitors."

"It will _definitely_ make an impression." She stood on tiptoes to brush a kiss against his cheek. He had _tried_, and her heart swelled because of it. "I love you so much."

Curling his arms around her, Teigan held the Weyrwoman close. "I love you, too." And even the wallpaper. "Do you want to grab breakfast in the Dining Cavern this morning and bask in more adoration for Imbeth's clutch?"

"Absolutely I do." It would give her time to school her expression and steel herself to face the wallpaper again.

"You know," he said, steering her back into their bedroom so they could dress. "Wyndall said they had a lot more of this style of wallpaper should we want to extend it into the bedroom or bathing room."

**Oh sweet Faranth!** Thiseta hid her dismay by smirking at her weyrmate. She let her gaze drift down to his deliciously hairy thighs before she dragged it up again to look him in the eye. "I had to be out of my own weyr for _ages_ and I don't really fancy sharing it with strange Crafters at the moment, no matter what their wallpaper looks like."

"You win," the healer acquiesced with a smile just for her.

**Do I?** She glanced again at her weyrmate as he pulled a tunic over his beautiful stomach, and decided that yes-- even with the wallpaper, she'd won.
