She Won't Last

Description: R'sedel complains to Nytha about her weyrling buddy...
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 12, day 3 of Turn 3

"So I hear you were the Senior Buddy of that new little greenrider, Dicalia," R'sedel said as he flopped down next to Nytha on the bench.

"Thats right," Nytha adjusted her hat. Even after all this time, she still hadn't got accustomed to the weather, she almost always had a hat with her.

"Shards, I'm sorry to hear that," the greenrider snorted. "What a _bitch_ she is."

"She has quite a tongue on her, I noticed that."

"Like a sharding tunnel snake," R'sedel grunted. "How did you manage her?"

"With difficulty, I had to order her to keep quiet on message runs to Jade Harbour Hold."

"Yeah, she does seem pretty vocal with her criticism of others," he grunted. "Did you know she complained about the wingthird right in the middle of the dinning hall in a loud voice, saying she had the most useless and easy job but a weyrling could do it better?"

Nytha rolled her eyes. She could just imagine how well that went down.
"Did M'galec or J'an find out about that?"

"Probably. Everyone heard, including the Wingthird." The girl had made a complete fool of herself quite nicely. "But what can they do? They can't take her back."

"Sometimes you wonder how and why people impressed." She grinned, "I mean my brother wasn't a candidate, but a blue found him."

"Well, I assume your brother at least has an agreeable personality."

She pulled a face, "He's okay, for a kid."

"Would he know better than to bad-mouth his superiors in a loud voice in the middle of the Dinning Hall?"

"He takes things a little too seriously at times."

R'sedel frowned. "Serious is good. Serious I can handle. Critiquing every little thing people do in the most negative way possible and praising yourself up to the Red Star I take offense at."

"Well a little avian told me that she won't last here, something about a need for riders requiring some transfers to Dolphin Cove." Nytha grinned, evilly. "I hope they know what to expect."

"Well, perhaps its easy for me to be uncharitable towards the girl. I think Eniidith will be rising soon. But _still_..." R'sedel shook his head in frustration. "Bah... She's not even worth thinking on."

"No, and she'll be gone soon enough."

"Still, I admire your patience with her." He gave her shoulder a squeeze. "You're a much better person than I'll ever be."

"I try," she said with a grin.
