Kenza stretched her arms over her head before bringing one hand to cover a yawn. "Shards, either I'm getting older or you're getting more exhausting! And stop stealing the covers." Her voice lacked her usual sharpness, though, which had been replaced with sleepy satisfaction. J'nus chuckled and ran a hand down her hip, drawing large circles, perhaps, or maybe just because he liked the feel of her. "I'll take that as a compliment."
Closing her eyes, Kenza let the touches lull her deeper into relaxation. "You should. Along with the fact that I've never slept with my wingleader until you went and got promoted." She grinned, her eyes still closed. "I don't think U'kaiah could have managed it even if he had realized it's a good way to shut me up."
"Mmm." They'd slept together before his promotion, but now? If there had been any moral issues to consider, they'd only been thought of briefly. "U'kaiah's too young for you anyway."
"You calling me an old lady?" she retorted, freeing a hand to poke him in the side. "I notice you weren't worried about my delicate condition a few moments ago!"
Whoops! "What I _meant_ was that a young pup like U'kaiah wouldn't know what to do with a woman like you." Never mind his reputation as a ladies man. J'nus leaned over and kissed her, preferring that to talking about another man while they lay in _his_ weyr.
Kenza smiled lazily when he pulled back, lifting a hand to run through his hair. "You seem to have no problem knowing exactly what to do with a woman like me."
"Nope." The bronzerider smiled again and reached for the furs. The sweat on his shoulders was cooling, and even in the summer air it gave him a bit of a chill.
She kept a fistful of the furs clutched firmly against her chest. "You may be bigger than me, but I'll fight you to the death over the covers."
"But I'm _cold_!"
Kenza squirmed over until her body was mostly draped over J'nus, with the furs draped over her. "Stop whining," she muttered into his chest.
An all right solution, except... "I can't breathe," J'nus muttered.
He wrapped his arms around her and forcibly settled her in a much less lung-crushing (and incidentally more comfortable) position tucked by his side. "Much better."
A muffled laugh came from next to his side. "First I'm old, now I'm fat. You sure know how to sweet talk a lady, J'nus."
"I never said that! But I _will_ say that I'm very glad that I don't have to worry about breaking you." He shivered theatrically and pulled the greenrider a little closer. "Some of the young girls these days, it looks as if they'd break in half if you looked at them wrong."
"Mmmm. You don't have to worry about that with me. Not while the Baker Hall still stands." Kenza hated to think of how much her hips would have expanded by now if she didn't have daily drills to keep her figure trim. He smiled. "Good."
Kenza snorted. "I'm so glad you approve. And if you even think of stealing the blankets away from me tonight, I'll roll over and crush you."
"I'll keep that in mind." J'nus closed his eyes and let himself drift towards sleep, planning to do exactly that. There were worse ways to go than suffocated by a beautiful woman.
