Getting It Over With

Description: Karri asks U'kaiah for a special favor.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 13, day 18 of Turn 3

Karri felt her cheeks redden as she quickened her pace to try and catch
up to the bronzerider. She had always liked U'kaiah, as part of the
weyrlingstaff she had gotten to spend a lot of time with him and had
always found him friendly and easy to talk to, she just hoped both
those characteristics continued in him today. "U'kaiah, sir..." she
called, the 'sir' she added at the last, unsure if this topic fell in
the professional realm or not.

"Karri," the bronzerider smiled as slowed his stride to match her
slower pace. "How are you and yours fairing?"

"We're doing well, thank you." she replied with a slight nod, "And
you?"

"Just fine thanks. Getting ready for the next waterball game. Do you
play?" he asked, continuing the small talk as they rounded the corner.

She looked at the floor in mild embarrassment. "No, not really. I'm
from a mountain hold and I never had much chance for swimming. I'm
learning though, so maybe someday when I'm good enough..."

"Yeah, its best not to try until you feel comfortable in the water," he
nodded. It could get pretty rough out there.

Comfortable in the water... that was definitely something she was _not_
at the moment. She remembered her attempt at being flirty the previous
night, and how horribly that had gone with that bluerider and decided
that maybe just a straight on asking approach might work better... or
at least not be as embarrassing. "U'kaiah, I've got a big favor to ask
you, but feel free to refuse it, I just want to get it out there
instead of padfooting around."

The bronzerider nodded as he regarded her thoughtfully. It sounded
serious. "All right, Karri. What is it?"

She took a deep breath, still unsure of just how to ask a question of
that sort. "I know it's not supposed to be a big deal, and I should
have taken care of it by now, but it just wasn't one of those top
priorities you know, and I've tried before, but it just didn't work
out..." She huffed, realizing she was rambling, and still not getting
out the question. "Oh bother... Will you have sex with me so I can get
it over with!"

"Sure," the bronzerider replied easily. She was certainly not the
first weyrling who had ever asked him to help in such a way. Far from
it. "When would you like to start?"

It took Karri a moment to get it through her head that he had said
'sure'. No fumbling shy retreats or claims of disinterest, just a
casual 'sure'. "Um..." she started, coming back to her senses. Why
hadn't she tried this sooner, it was _much_ easier. "Tonight? Or
whenever is convenient for you." she said with a small smile, the
weight of that annoying burden starting to lift off her shoulders.

"I'll have Kalamath bespeak Elliath when I'm ready. It will have to
wait until after Threadfall." He then studied Karri's face carefully.
"May I ask, how much experience _have_ you had so far?"

"None." she said with a shrug. She wondered if he'd change his mind,
she probably wouldn't be a very _fun_ bedmate and he might not want to
waste his time. "Like I said, it hasn't really been a top priority for
me till now."

"That's fine. Not everyone makes it a priority." Although U'kaiah had
seemed to have made it his top priority as soon as puberty hit. "So
have you even _kissed_ a boy yet?"

"No," she shook her head. The fact that she hadn't even had her first
kiss was a more embarrassing discussion for her than never having sex.
Maybe it was the fact that she had actually _wanted_ to be kissed by
certain boys before that was the difference. She had started looking
at having sex as more of an assignment to do for class than as a
personal experience. "I impressed soon after arriving from that
mountain hold I was telling you about. Nobody _wanted_ to kiss me
there, and here... well, when one wanted to he couldn't, and now he
doesn't want to so..." she added to try and explain.

"I'm sure there are plenty of boys who want to kiss you, Karri," the
bronzerider reassured her.

She doubted that, as evidenced by the fact that she had to go to one of
her instructors to get her experience, but she just nodded, not really
wanting to get into how ugly everyone must think she is. "So um,
you'll let me know then?"

"My dragon will bespeak yours when I'm free," U'kaiah nodded.
