"Peringel, stop pacing," his wife said laying a hand on her husband's
arm.

"Where is that girl? She should be here and _ready_ to greet Lord Ishek
when he arrives," the Holder growled.

"She's on her way. Besides, Lord Ishek is coming to inspect our
Holdings and discuss the feline sightings, not to woo our daughter," she
gently reminded him.

"He needs a wife and it would be a good alliance for us," he reminded
her as he began pacing again. He just hoped to Faranth his headstrong
daughter would actually _behave_ for once.

"I'm here, father," the young woman called as she ran down the steps.

"You're late, Perina."

"I was getting ready for the Lord Holder's visit," she said quietly.

His stern reprimand was cut off by his wife pointing to the sky as a
loud brassy bugle rang out through the courtyard of the Hold. A bronze
circled overhead carrying the Lord Holder and his assistant.

"Now you just be polite and on your best behavior," Peringel muttered to
the young woman at his side.

Rolling her eyes she whispered, "Yes, father."

Ishek still wasn't used to dragonback, and that he merited riding bronze
was still astounding to him. He hoped he never got over that thrill.
When they landed he thanked the dragonrider profusely, climbed off, and
smiled quickly and nervously at Kiomo before straightening his shoulders
and striding forward to meet the Holders.

"Good day, Holder Peringel." Ishek said politely before nodding to the
man's family.

"Good day, Lord Ishek," the Holder bowed. "Welcome to Quartz River to
you and your friend. May I present my wife, Hanasha, and my daughter
Perina."

"Pleased to meet you," Ishek said, offering his hand to the Holder and
inclining his head to the man's wife and daughter. He looked around the
Hold. From what he could see, it was beautiful and well maintained. "You
have a lovely Hold." he said.

The ladies curtsied daintily as Holder Peringel took Ishek's hand.
"Thank you sir. We are quite proud of it, and I'm sure you will find
everything to your satisfaction."

There, he'd seemed to have gotten off on a good foot. Ishek looked
around admiringly. He could easily be satisfied anywhere- Ishek didn't
have complicated needs- but he knew being polite mattered. "I'm sure I
will be. You and your family, have you all been well?"

"Yes, very well, thank you," the Holder nodded and looked over the Lord
Holder's shoulder curiously at the other passenger the rider had brought
them.

"Excellent." Ishek saw where the man's eyes went, and realized Kiomo
hadn't been introduced yet- he'd expected him to introduce himself, but
maybe that wasn't protocol. "This is Kiomo, my assistant." he stated.

"Welcome, holder Kiomo," Peringel nodded.

"Thank you sir. It's a pleasure. And greetings to you, ladies," Kiomo
said with a polite bow.

The Holder turned his attention back to Ishek. "Shall we retire inside?
Perhaps share a drink before we get down to the business of the day?"

Ishek nodded. "I would enjoy that. Perhaps you could tell me a bit about
your Hold?" he asked.

"Certainly, sir. This way," Peringel said as he lead the procession
towards the main entrance.
