K'mai

K'mai

He wasn't really _that_ sore, but it was enough of a reason to go down
to the infirmary and see if a certain young lady was on duty. The
apprentice at the front desk told him that she was, and that she was
also available. Smiling all the way down the hall, K'mai walked into the
massage room and greeted the apprentice healer. "Hello, Leora!"

Kamira almost blushed at the greeting. She knew without looking who it
was and just what he wanted. "Now K'mai," she chided as best she could.
"You wouldn't be faking an injury to get out of drills and come see me,
now would you?"

"Certainly not!" he protested. "My left shoulder has gotten a bit sore
again, and I could think of no one better to take care of it than you."

Her moment of bravery passed and her courage to tease him further. "All
right then, you know the drill." K'mai had been her patient many times
but she still turned around and blushed when he took off his shirt.

As the healer turned, K'mai stripped off his shirt, feeling a slight
pull in his stiff muscles. "So what have you been up to?" The bluerider
asked as he laid on the massage table.

"Just healing. I've hardly had time for much else." She warmed her hands
and began her work. "I'm studying to become a senior apprentice very
soon and hopefully a journeyman after that." Her enthusiasm was evident
from her voice. "What have you been doing?"

"Aside from drills, Fall and flirting, I've been playing waterball." He
moved his head so he could look at her. "If you can tear yourself away
from healing for a little while, would you like to come watch a game?"

"So _that's _ what's been aggravating your shoulder!" She exclaimed.
"You really have to take better care of yourself when you play! The last
thing I want to do is get called to the sidelines to nurse your poor
sorry self back to health so you can play the last half candlemark of
the game!" Apparently, she felt quite passionately about it.

K'mai laughed. "It isn't _that_ bad Leora!"

"Well you're not a healer." She laughed. "I just don't want you to hurt
yourself _again_."

"Well, I told you I get a little sore sometimes. It happens anyway,
waterball or not." The bluerider's tone had a hint of guilt in it.

Leora blushed and was grateful that K'mai wasn't looking. "Although, I
can't say that I entirely mind massaging you."

"And here I was worried it was a terrible chore you dreaded!" he teased.

** _Never_! ** She cleared her throat. "Of course not..."

He chuckled. "Well, that's a relief. It would be quite a chore to find
another massage specialist as cute as you."

"And I must admit you are one of my more charming patients."

"Only one of them? Not the most?" he asked.

She laughed, enjoying his interest. "No, you are the most charming but I
can't have you being egotistical about it, can I?" She paused for a
moment to grind some oils to help relax him further, turning her back to
him.

Turning to see what she was doing, K'mai saw that she was facing away
from him. Reaching out, he tapped her bottom lightly.

Leora blushed from head to toe and gasped a little in surprise. "K'mai!"
She didn't know quite what tone to take, but the one she ended up with
was of mildly pleased disapproval.

His grin was huge. "Sorry. I couldn't help it."

Remembering her talk with Quarina, Leora decided, as she often did with
K'mai, to be a bit bolder than usual. "_I'm_ supposed to be massaging
_you_ - not the other way around!"

"Hmmmm, perhaps I should give you a massage sometime," the bluerider
said as he shifted on the table.

Leora cocked her head ever so slightly. "Perhaps you should." She
wondered just what the bluerider would do with that comment - although
the comment was hardly blunt, it was as open as she'd ever been about
this sort of thing.

K'mai's eyebrow went up, although she couldn't see it. She was certainly
being bolder than usual today. "I would be happy to give you one any
time, Leora. Just let me know when and where."

She bit her right thumb nail a bit and looked at the floor before
meeting his eyes. "Ok." It was dumb but it was all she could manage. She
wished she was braver.

"You're so adorable," the bluerider smiled. "I mean it, though. Anytime
you want. I'll even behave myself . . . mostly."

Leora wasn't sure if she wanted to cry or hit him - she was a full grown
woman and she hardly wanted to be described as 'adorable.' She turned
back to her work K'mai had interrupted to keep from showing him either
emotion.

Figuring she was blushing again, K'mai went on. "Then you can get an
idea of how talented _my_ fingers are."

She rolled her eyes and kept her back turned. "In a minute I'll have a
lotion ready for you to put on once a day for the next few days."

"Will you put it on for me?"

She couldn't help it, he was shameless and she rose to the bait. "I
thought you were the talented one here?" The playful tone was back in
her voice.

"It's more pleasant to have to have someone else rub you, no matter how
talented you are." K'mai's smile widened into a grin.

The apprentice rolled her eyes. "All right, turn around already so I can
do my job." She rubbed some of the potion onto her hands and began
rubbing his shoulders lightly.

"Mmm . . . that feels wonderful."

She sighed; this would probably be about as far as she'd get with the
bluerider for quite some time - she was too much of a lady to instigate
and he was too much of a gentleman to press her. "Good."
