Description: J'klin goes to visit his mindhealer
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 13, day 3 of Turn 4
Most people grumbled when they had to go and see a mindhealer, but J'klin didn't mind it. It wasn't necessarily the most fun he could be having, but he could tell a difference in his life after just two months of seeing her. "Good day" he said by way of greeting as he took his boots off and laid down on the couch provided. That was another thing people grumbled about -the couch - but he actually liked it. It helped him to relax to just lay there and look at the ceiling while he talked.
Kitalina smiled to herself as J'klin came in. He was one of her most favorite patients. He actually realized that she was helping him and not just wasting his time. Kit was a lean woman in her late twenties with dark blue eyes and _dark_ red hair. She almost always had it pulled up in a high bun. She also always wore a slim fitting skirt and loss blouse when working with patients. She had made it a strict rule with herself to _never_ get involved with her patients, and she had never considered it until J'klin had become her patient.
She, of course, had kept things very professional. "So how are you today J'klin?" the Mindhealer asked as her usual way of greeting. She sat in a chair at the end of the couch on it's left side so she could see her patients' faces clearly at the head of the couch. She had perfected a way of looking at her patients through her eyelashes, so that it seemed she was just looking at her hides but really she was studying their physical reactions to their mental states. She did _look_ look at them, but that was when she had surmised that they were comfortable enough with her doing so.
"It's been a pretty good day actually." J'klin answered as he tucked one arm under his head. "I had breakfast with a couple of riders today again, the ones I told you about last week."
Kit nodded her head making a note on the hides in her hands, "That's good, what did you talk about?"
J'klin shrugged, "Not anything real special. We just joked around and talked a bit of strategy for the waterball game coming up. Dolphin Cove's team is supposed to be pretty good so I'm looking forward to it."
Kit made a mental note to try her hardest to attend the game, "And how are things going with the waterball practices? Are they as beneficial as we thought they might be?"
"I think so," he replied after a moment. "It certainly helps pass the time; and I'm so tired afterwords my mind doesn't wander back to Arilanna as often." That was one of the things he was having the most trouble with, at night when he was alone she was all he'd think about.
He'd left Dragonsfall so abruptly, he'd never said goodbye, and it was almost like she was haunting him.
She nodded understandingly, J'klin had expressed before that Arilanna was a large source of his emotional discomfort. **I could help you forget _everything_ J'klin, even her!** Kit said in her head as she made notes on her hides. She, of course, made no visible show of her feelings. "Is there anything else on your mind?"
Comfortable on the couch, J'klin just let his thoughts flow. "Well, there was a girl I met. She's been on my mind a bit lately. She was a healer who treated me for a minor score; there was something about her eyes... but it's too soon isn't it? Especially since she's a healer, they're nothing but problems, maybe I'm just thinking of her because she _is_ a healer like Arilanna. I should probably stay away from her... but she had this spark about her... I don't know, what do you think?"
Kitalina sighed inwardly, **NO, don't go after her, but don't stay away from healers, we're not all _that_ bad, are we?** "Well, you shouldn't let opportunities to get to know new people pass you by, but maybe you should just give yourself more time before you start thinking of any one," **other than maybe me,** "in any way other than _just_ a friend." She paused to think of something else to say that was more positive, "It is a good sign though that you are becoming attracted to _someone_. I remember at the beginning of our sessions together you thought you could never _feel_ for another person again."
"Yeah, you're probably right, and I think it probably _is_ too soon."
He agreed and added, "I probably won't see her again anyways. A few fun green flights and I probably won't remember her either." He doubted that was true, but maybe if he told himself that enough...
Kit nodded, absently agreeing with him. He didn't need someone to argue with him. She had seen the looks on his face when he had said things like he just did and she knew that he always knew better.
The mindhealer got up and went to her desk. Opening a drawer she pulled out a large block of clay. Looking rather awkward, being someone who doesn't seem like the 'getting-down-and-dirty' type, she got a string out and cut off a rather large chunk of the soft malleable clay. She was lucky she could keep the clay in her office due to it's cold temperature, and the moist air of the region.
She walked back to her chair and sat down. She looked him in the eye and held the piece of clay out to him. "Take this, I have an assignment for you."
He cocked an eyebrow, but took the clay, trusting that she knew what she was doing. "Okay..." he said slowly, drawing it out, "What sort of assignment?"
"I want you," she paused thinking, "to create your feelings, your thoughts. I want you to mold the clay into what first comes up in your head." She looked at him and smiled slightly, wondering how well he'd take to this. "What I want you to do is go home to your weyr, sit down in a comfortable chair at a table, and close your eyes. Then I want you to focus your energy into the bridge of your nose, calm your breathing and let your thoughts flow. Try to stay focused on the things most vivid and mold them, or how you feel about them." she looked at the clay, "this should be enough for a fair amount of small figures so break off a piece before you start or you won't have anything left to do more with."
The mindhealer leaned back in her chair, "Then bring them to me and we'll discuss what you created."
He looked at the clay with disdain and then gave a more pleading look to Kitalina. She didn't look like she was kidding or that she would change her mind, so he just sighed and took the clay. "Whatever you say, you're the healer."
