"We should go somewhere." Karri said as she laid on her bed next to Talwynn, her hands propping her head up.
"Tired of being here?" Talwynn asked. She had a star chart for Dragonsfall in her hands, just so she could review. She didn't want to lose her crafting skills. "Is there anywhere we could go, though?"
Karri blew the bangs out of her eyes, they were getting long and she needed to get them trimmed, "I'm just _so_ tired of this place. I've looked in every nook and cranny in the Weyr and have the scrapes to prove it." she held up her arm to show off the long rash she had acquired when she had slid down an embankment.
"Looks painful." Talwynn remarked. "I'm tired too. I used to live at Dolphin Cove, so it was fun getting to go here, but...now I just want to go somewhere else. Even staying up a bit late to stare at the stars doesn't help."
"Then we should go somewhere." she repeated, "We could fly straight somewhere, maybe even go between somewhere; they'll probably let us if we've got a good picture."
"Sounds like a good idea! Where can you think of to go, though? I don't know anywhere good nearby if they make us go straight. Were you raised here, or somewhere else?"
Karri crinkled her nose as she sat up, "You don't want to go to my _father's_ hold. I don't think they ever expect to see me again anyways."
"They weren't happy about you coming here?" Talwynn guessed. Being Weyrbred, she couldn't imagine parents like that, but what did she know?
"Not exactly," she replied with a smile. "My family wanted me gone, just not to here. When I got this scar on my face they tried really hard to marry me off. It took awhile, but they finally found somebody who'd take me and the arrangement was made. When I was searched, I left leaving them in breach of their deal. It wouldn't be a real warm homecoming."
"I guess not." Talwynn said. "I'm glad you're here, and I know Elliath is. The Weyr's a better home anyways, it sounds like. Except when it's being boring." She tried to think of where she knew to go. "I don't know if they'd let us go to Dolphin Cove, which is a shame, because there are some nice beaches there. 8 candlemarks ahead, though. Big time difference."
The idea of a nice warm sandy beach appealed to the young greenrider.
"But you've got a great picture of it in your head don't you? It won't hurt to ask."
Talwynn nodded. "I suppose it wouldn't. And yeah, I grew up there, so the picture's as good as I can make it."
"Great!" Karri exclaimed. The day seemed so much better now as the anticipation was already building in her mind. "We can ask E'naer before lunch tomorrow!"
Talwynn grinned. "Definitely. We'll convince him to go and finally get _out_ of this place. We have a visualization, we'll promise to be back before too late...why would they refuse?"
"Why would they." Karri repeated, sure that they wouldn't.
