"Hi, An'dr. Do you mind if I join you?" Ava greeted and asked with bright smile. Without waiting for the answer, she took the seat opposite of the bluerider and set her dinner tray to the table.

"Not at all," he replied with a smile. Just because she was still a junior weyrling didn't mean they couldn't share a meal.

"How are you been," Ava asked, after she had first taken care of the worst of her hunger.

"Good, you?" he replied watchiung her eat. He remembered when Pluserth had been that hungry all the time, how it had made him eat as well.

"I got the weyrlingmaster's second breathing down to my neck all the time," she complained. "You're printer right? It's almost like being a harper, is it?"

"Sort of," he said after a moment. "Why?"

"Can you draw, draw well? 'Cause I can't and he's all over me because of that. I mean, we have to draw places when we are practising visualization, before we can go /between/."

"Ahh," said An'dr. "My brother can draw better than me, but I can give you some pointers."

"I would appreciate few lessons. I can't draw at all," Ava said and her smile indicated how she plan to appreciate it. (Of course, it would have to wait for her becoming senior weyrling.)

"I can help you there," he said, pausing to take a drink of his juice. "I'm okay at making a sketch of something, but no illustrator, that's my big brother."

"I just need to learn the basics. Like what the shards is perspective," Ava replied.

"I'll let you into a secret," said An'dr leaning forward. "I can't explain it, but I can show you."

"Oh, how?" Ava asked curiously.

"Let me finish, and I'll grab a hide and show you."

"All right," Ava said and they finished their meals in silence. After they returned their dishes to the kitchen, they found a sot in sun light. "So, show me how this drawing thing is supposed to work, " the weyrling grinned.

Picking up a hide he began to sketch. "Can you see?" he asked after a moment. "Look at how I've drawn the entrance to the dining cavern in proportion to that green dragon."

Ava watched with fasinated interest. "Aha. How do you make her look so real?"

"It's about what you imply, try to show detail, but don't worry about everything, just give the impressions that you see around you."

"Do you have another hide? I would like to try," Ava asked.

"Here," he passed her the stylus, and checked to see if he had more hides.
"You can try in the back of this, I'd have to go and get more."

"I try that same dragon," Ava said and started to draw. Her tongue stuck out when she concentrated. "There, not as good as yours. Looks more like wher," she said critically when she had finished.

"But what did your first attempt look like?" asked An'dr.

"Nondescipt blotch on hide," Ava replied with a grin.

"Well there you go, it takes practice to get better at it, and you can see it's a dragon. You got the perspective right withough trying as well."

"So I did!" Ava said with surprise.

"That's the secret, not to try, just draw what you see."

"Thank's An'dr," Ava said and gave him a quick peck on a cheek. She judged it safe, since there were no other feelings involved but gratitude.

"You're welcome," he said with a smile.
