Characters: Daynar, Alrog, Fieayz
Description: Daynar comes to interrupt Alrog's and Fieayz's dancing.
Location: Garnet Valley Hold
Date: month 13, day 29 of Turn 3
Alrog had danced with his mother, he had danced with all his sisters and few ladies from Iron Lake (like the Steward's wife, a lady old enough to be his great-granny.) Now he had managed to sneak away to quiet corner with wine glass and snack-plate.
"Phew, Lapis, my foot are hurting and these new shoes are killing me!" he remarked to his blue flit and kicked off his shoes.
Lapis's welcoming croon alerted him that he wasn't as alone as he thought.
"Eh, who's there?"
Arva's chirp and sudden preening brought Fieayz out of the shadows. She too had thought to find a few moments to eat, and watch the dancing. The flit danced about, eventually drawing the blue into view.
"Alrog?" she asked cautiously.
"Yes. Hi Fieayz. Seem like you're looking for quiet place too, " the young man smiled.
She returned his smile, it really made him so much nicer looking when he did that, something about how it brought out his eyes. "I wanted somewhere to eat in peace."
"Same here," Alrog replied.
"And to watch what's happening, it's quite a spectacle out there."
"Yes, you can't do that when you're dancing. This turn's fashion colour seems to be garnet and burungy," the young holder replied and remarked while watching the dance floor and the brilliant colors in ladies dresses.
"Burgundy does seem to be in," she replied displaying her own dress, showing that colour as well. "It seems to suit some people a lot better than others.
Her for example." She pointed to a lady on the dance floor, who's dress clearly didn't suit her, "She should have worn another colour." the lady in question was clearly overweight and perspiring through her dress in a rather unattractive fashion.
"Nothing in her dress suits her," Alrog grinned. This was actually fun. "And she show too much of what she doesn't have," he pointed another woman, with low neckline and flat chest.
"And that one over there," Fieayz's gaze feel on a tall, skinny woman. "The dress is too short for her."
"Yes, and her socks don't go well with her dress's colour," Alrog laughed.
"No, they don't. Perhaps she should have chosen stockings instead."
"There's one of my sisters, shards, her dress looks dull!"
"Perhaps if she had worn a necklace with it?" suggested Fieayz. It was a dress that could be rescued, by the right accessories.
"Yes, but I think Alfginna does it on purpose. She don't want to be pretty, she wants to go unnoticed. Unlike Rolfinna and her husband. Aren't they a cute couple?"
They did look good together, Fieayz had to admit. The young miner was so protective of his new bride, who was looking up into his eyes, lost in the music. "They do indeed."
"I got third sister here somewhere," Alrog watched around. "There, it that group of young girls. With the blue dress," He pointed her out.
"She's pretty," observed Fieayz, "Looks like she's about the same age as my sister."
Alrog nodded and drained his glass. He had also finished his plate while they talked. "So, now I got back my energy, how about a dance?" he asked.
"I'd love to," she said setting her plate aside on a small table.
Alrog put his dishes next to hers and offered his arm to her. Soon they Joined the swirling pairs on the dance floor.
Daynar glowered at his young fosterling. She was as good as throwing Herself at that annoying Holder from Iron Lake, the one who had threatened _him_! Grumbling irritably, the Hallmaster stared at them while they danced, Waiting for them to exit the floor so he could tell Fieayz to stay _away_
From Lord Alrog.
The music came to a gradual end. Fieayz remained in Alrog's arms perhaps a moment longer than was proper, but she had enjoyed herself, it was nice to find such a good dancer. "Thank you for the dance."
"No, thank YOU, it was a pleasure. Maybe we could share another dance?"
Alrog replied.
"I think I'd like that," she said as the musicians lifted their instruments to play again.
Alrog escorted her to the dance floor again. He was confident in his skills as dancer. He might not be the best, but atleast he didn't trip to his feets or step on anybodys toes. He enjoyed dancing with Fieayz. She was good partner.
All too soon the music was over. "Thank you again," said Fieayz, wondering what the odds of getting him to go outside for a walk, and maybe a little more.
Daynar chose that moment to approach the couple.
His frown was in evidence. "That is quite enough Fieayz; the entire Hold will be talking of you spending all this time with Lord Alrog here." He gave the man his title, but not much more. Arms crossed over his broad chest and finery, the Hallmaster simply stood there, as if waiting to see if Fieayz was going to defy him.
"Sir?" Fieayz sounded puzzled. "I was only dancing, in full view of everyone."
"Exactly," Alrog agreed with her. "As you have been dancing with the Lady Miralani."
"The Lady Miralani and I are betrothed, young man." was the stern answer with barely a glance at him. "However, if you think that is an argument, then perhaps I should betroth Fieayz to you?" He now turned to look at Alrog again. "Although I'm certain her Father already has a husband picked out for her. I could speak to him, though."
Alrog glanced at Fieayz. She really wouldn't be a bad choice for a wife, at least based of what he knew of her. "Betrothal is not totally out of question," he answered thougtfully.
Marriage - it was a big thing, and at least it meant that she'd be out from under Daynar and his restrictions. Arva would be allowed to go where she wanted and when, not have to keep her in her room. And Alrog was good looking... And Papa would approve of him, she knew he would. But was she really ready for that?
She looked up at Alrog, then back at Daynar. "Maybe you should write to my Papa," she said demurely. "Arva would take it for you."
Daynar snorted. "I'll have nothing to do with that flit of yours! Causing all sorts of trouble in my Hall, she is! Apprentices turning up with fire lizards laying on projects and attacking good people in the very Halls!" he grumbled on for quite a space, mostly to himself.
"I am not sure _I_ approve of you at all, Lord Alrog." He turned to Fieayz.
"I will speak to your Father. You need to be safely married, perhaps that will stop your throwing yourself about this way. In the meantime, find a few other folk with whom to dance." were his final warnings before he turned and left the pair to their own devices.
He would return in a heartbeat if he perceived Fieayz to be 'throwing herself about' again, however.
Alrog watched the hallmaster's retreating back. Then he gave Fieayz a puzzled look. "Well, that was...," he gave a helpless shrug and shook his head ruefully. For some reason he felt like laughing.
Fieayz did laugh, "If he thinks to write to Papa at all..." She grinned at Alrog. "He didn't say we couldn't talk, just not to dance."
"So he didn't" the young man grinned.
