Description: U'das calls J'lai in to his office to discuss his attitude, which obviously needs some adjusting.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 1, day 7 of Turn 4
U'das was called the younger bronzerider to his office. The wingleader was highly annoyed. Yet another complaint towards J'lai. The man was a pain in a butt.
J'lai looked sullen as he stood in front of the wingleader's desk, refusing to meet his eyes. "You wanted to talk to me?"
"Yes, sit down please," U'das asked and gestured towards a chair.
After pulling the chair back from the desk, J'lai sat down and stretched his long legs out in front of him, crossing them at the ankles. "What can I do for you today?"
"I've received a complaint, concerning your attitude," U'das said seriously.
J'lai frowned and crossed his arms over his chest. "Who complained?"
"You know I'm not supposed to tell that you," U'das said. "But you should be able to figure it out yourself."
Considering how many people he'd had cross words with in the past sevenday, it could have been any number of his wingmates. The only real question was which of them was so pathetic that they had to go running to the wingleader to cry about it. "T'voal, then."
U'das didn't indicate anyway if he had guessed right or not. "Look, this can't go on. You can't keep on angering your wingmates."
"I'm not _angering_ anybody on purpose," J'lai retorted. "They're supposed to be adults and capable of taking care of themselves. So I don't agree with everything they say... this isn't a popularity contest, and I'm not going to agree with them to make them feel better about themselves."
"You can disagree with less offensive manner," U'das pointed out.
J'lai shrugged. "They're easily offended. I can't help that, either."
U'das had to grid his teeth to control himself. The man was really annoying. If his wingmates weren't so responsible adults, maybe they could beat some sense to him, instead letting him deal with it.
Taking his wingleader's silence for agreement, J'lai expanded on the topic. "If they'd learn how to solve their own problems, they wouldn't be running to bother you all the time."
"And maybe you should do little self-examining?" U'das suggested, his voice quiet but it had an undercurrent of threat. Those who knew him well knew it was a bad sign.
J'lai was oblivious to it. "I'll ignore them if you want me to, but it's not going to help _their_ problems."
"Maybe you ignoring them is the problem," the bronzerider said. **Can I strangle him, please! **
The younger man shrugged. "If you think so. You're the wingleader, U'das.
I'll do what you say." **For now...**
"Well, behave then," U'das snapped impatiently. He was losing patience with him.
J'lai reminded himself that making U'das angry might end up with him having to talk to the healers again, and bit back an angry retort. "Yes, sir."
"Dismissed," U'das said with certain resignation. Some people never learned.
