Fielton

Fielton

"You're right, Fielton." Danery said as he scanned the upper rooms of the soon to be tavern. "These big rooms can be sliced nicely into smaller sleeping quarters."

"I'll want to keep the suite in the west corner," he said, gesturing with one hand. "And one room with enough beds to let the servers have somewhere to sleep if they need a place. But the rest of the rooms can be changed to guest rooms."

"Uh huh, uh huh." The master woodsmith agreed as his mind was going over the plans in front of him that the Hallmaster had worked up. "You know, if you don't mind the servers sharing with these single rooms, we can put a toilet here in the hall, and these two rooms could have private toilets by splitting the line. It might make them worth another mark or two, and it'd only take another day to lay in." It didn't matter either way to him, but he always liked to lay out the possibilities to his customers.

"Hmmmm..." Fielton considered it, though in honesty the thought of making them worth another mark was enough convincing. "Do it."

Danery made a notation on the plans and continued his inspection. He heard running up the stairs and turned to see his son, and apprentice, Dantio rounding the corner with a slip of paper in his hand. "Journeyman Salenti did the measurements you wanted for the harper platform." Dantio said, and added with pride, "And I helped!" The master ruffled his young son's hair affectionately, "Good lad, now get back down there and help Rantan check for bug sign." "Did you find someone to make the sort of tables I want?" Fielton asked as the boy ran back down the stairs. "Something sturdy that we won't have to replace any time soon."

Danery stuck his writing stick behind his ear, and started flipping though the various sheets he'd brought along. "Ah ha... yes." he said finally as he found the right one. "We do have the tables you inquired about, and can have stains and finishings you choose placed in plenty of time. However, we did have a order of skybroom tables fall through, and while the tables are slightly smaller than what you wanted, they will definitely be sturdy and long lasting. If you're interested..." Fielton frowned as he tried to visualize the room downstairs again. "If we can still arrange them in the way we wanted..." He'd never been good at picturing that sort of thing.

"Oh yes, arrangements won't be a problem, if anything people will have a few more inches of elbow room around them." The master woodsmith thought a moment then added, "I'll tell you what, I'll have Journeyman Salenti bring one of the tables down to you in a few days and you can decide once you've seen it."

"That sounds like a good solution." Fielton smiled in anticipation. "This just may work after all."
